This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 9 images chosen by readers out of my photo archives. Of course these are all from my current journey through South Africa as that’s all I have on the replacement computer.
Diane chose #198 because “19 my birth date and 8 for the month.” And because she’s such a bright and shinny person she gets a sunrise at Karoo National Park South Africa.
Bibi chose #48 for “no reason.” I did have a reason to photograph this sign as it will remind me where I was.
Jo chose #999, “the last number in your range.” This baby elephant was in camera range in Addo Elephant National Park, but it certainly wasn’t the last photo taken.
Sallie chose #06. I must have taken over 600 photos of the Indian Ocean and wave action in Tsitsikamma National Park.
MaryBeth chose #9, “the date you are returning home and day of my Grandmother’s birthday.” I guess that means the 9th is a special day and so is this waterfall seen at Tsitsikamma National Park.
Elaine chose #409, “since that’s the day you return to the US and the day we’ll return to Alaska from a short jaunt to the Pacific Northwest.” I’ll be forever looking for elephants once I return to the States but don’t suppose I’ll find any in Arizona, or Alaska.
Arija chose #423, “for no reason whatever.” Not sure if these Warthogs in Addo Elephant National Park had a reason to walk down the road.
Jonker also chose #999, “as it is the last number available.” I’m teasing him again with these giraffe’s at Kruger National Park where he needs to take his family.
Yogi chose #667, “just cuz.” He likes to laugh which is a known trait of the hyena, this youngster was seen at Addo Elephant National Park.
My choice this week is this pair of Gemsbok having a little dual where I currently am at Kalagadi Transfrontier Park. Thank goodness they weren’t serious as those horns look formidable.
Next week marks one year, or 52 weeks, of Foto Friday Fun. Thank you for joining in Foto Friday Fun where readers choose a number from my archives and I share the corresponding
photo and a story. To join in the fun for next week leave a number between 01 and 999 in a comment and maybe see your chosen image next week.
Do you have a favorite from this week?
Look for other photos posted on Geogypsy Facebook page not usually seen here.
I am amazed one whole year of Friday Foto fun, where does the time go to? Well done and congratulations on keeping it going. Love sun rises and sunsets, but I have to agree that last photo of the Gemsbok is very special. 101 for next week, just out of the hat 🙂 Keep well Diane
Hard to believe I’ve kept this going a whole year. Have you down for #101.
OMW !!! Gaelyn, are you in the Kgalaghadi Transfrontier Park. WOW WOW WOW! This is our all time favourite park and Grant and I want to go back there one day! The Gemsbok image is my favourite as these buck used to run through the streets of the diamond town we lived in in the 90’s! Do you still see signs of “Ounooi the Lion” around the park? Are you going to Grootkolk and Unions End? And a question that’s burning in my mind: do you have a back-up of everything : photos and files back in the USA of life before you came on your 2014 SA tour. So many questions. But I wish you a MOST enjoyable safari through the Kgalaghadi! And know that we’re envious even though we shouldn’t be! My choice for next week is 39, the total amount of days until we go out to SA on our break. (((Hugs))) Jo xxx
Yes, we are in the Kgalagadi, SA only. In fact we leave tomorrow. Don’t have 4×4 and the roads are in awful condition. Is a great park though. No signs of “ounooi the lion” Due to rain in Feb & March there is much grass. I do have backups in the States. Have you down for #39.
My favorite is the waterfall. I’m joining the crowd and picking 999 cuz it is the inverted sign of the beast and I’ve already done 666.
The hike to the waterfall was a challenge but well worth it. Have you down for #999.
Wow from me also – a whole YEAR? you are amazing in your tensity, but that is how you got to
“Africa in the first place – sticktoitiveness – wow it’s hard to spell that even phonetically – – Gosh
Julie are just waking up in
Red Buff – no elephants here!
Heading to Eurica and then Bandon tonight – going thru the redwoods. Hoping to see elephants there.
Will contact tonight or tomorrow – – Stay safe –
I’m sure you two are having a wonderful trip but really, elephants in the Redwoods? Have more fun and keep me posted.
Another lovely bunch of photos! I had to laugh at the thought of seeing elephants in Arizona and Alaska, but then I got curious. The zoo in Phoenix does have Asian Elephants, but no sign of anything vaguely resembling an elephant at the Anchorage zoo. Soooo, if you start having withdrawal symptoms from not seeing elephants this summer you could make an emergency trip to Phoenix and make do with the Asian variety. Not the same as seeing them in the wild, of course.
I’ll keep the Phoenix zoo in mind. No number from you this week?
Did I REALLY not give you a number again? I’m fearing for my sanity at this point. Ok well I want Arija’s picture and Jonker’s and Elaine’s and MaryBeth’s and ……………….. well all of them. I can’t believe you are there and seeing all these things and sharing them with us. It’s just WOW! AND next time I want #2.
I hope no number from last week isn’t because of my intermittent internet access. But this week I have you down for #2.
Love the shot of the Indian Ocean and the warthogs. Next week I’ll have number 5, optimistically thinking of my fifth trip to India…when?
So when is the 5th trip to India? Maybe I want to go along. Have you down for #5.
I love all the photos. Am intrigued by the hyeneas, which I would never have assumed would be cute or interesting, but they are sort of. Buy my very favorite is the elephant baby nursing….I just love that one so much.
I really like the hyenas and think them very cute. But elephants will always be my favorite. No number this week?
I love all–well almost all– your photos but the baby Elephant with Mama is precious. So it is hard to pic a real favorite or even list them in an order. I appreciate my wanderings with you. You are the quintessential tour guide. Thanks.
I will pick #22.
Thanks MB. Have you down for #22.
Love all the pictures. It has been a fantastic trip and we have had so many great sightings.
This post contains a couple of places I haven’t been, Except for Kruger there is also the Kalagadi Transfrontier Park and the Karoo National Park. *sigh* So much I still need to see in my own country. And I seriously need to take a walk to the waterfall next time I’m in the Tsitsikamma.
Next week to celebrate one year of Foto Friday Fun I select 1975. The year I was born.
You really do need to travel more in your own country as there is just so much to see. Have you down for #1975, kid.
