Seems we may have been interrupting this rhino mud bath at Kruger National Park. Many animals roll in the mud to cool off and create a caked layer to keep bugs off.
Of course the zebras and a blue wildebeest also looked on.
After this white rhino crawled out of its spa it wandered behind a bush as if to hide from us paparazzi.
I hope it didn’t think we were poachers because the only way I’d shoot a Rhino is with my camera. Only Rhinos need Rhino horn.
Reposted in honor of World Rhino Day September 22, 2014.
A great shot of the rhino leaving the mud bath with the zebra watching on. Have a good day. Diane
Love this, views of the creatures in the wild.
I think my heart would stop I would be so happy to see this! The rhino obviously was tired of having his pic taken….he turned his back on you.
We’ve been away, so I just caught up on several posts, loved them all. Thanks for sharing your wonderous journey.
Sometimes it seems like the animals get tired of having their photo taken.
Mud bath sounds good. I wonder if that rhino really thought he could hide behind that skinny little tree. 😉
He really wasn’t happy with us.
I’ve paid good money at a spa to get the mud treatment! Great snaps, Gaelyn.
Hope it helps you because it doesn’t seem to help the rhino’s skin.
Wonderful shots of the rhino. Specially like the first one with the last one coming a close second.
What a site to see! He is HUGE!
What a wonderful find! Beautiful creatures. Can we hunt the poachers for money? That would be fun.
I Love your idea of hunting the poachers for money.
