This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 9 images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives. Real heavy on Arizona choices and nothing wrong with that.
MaryBeth chose #39 because, “My youngest birthday was on the 7th and she is now a grand 39—Jack Benny’s forever age.” Well I think Tow Mater is another character that will be young forever.
Jo chose #7, “as it was the day the foster cats reached their first owner’s home in SA.” That is cause for celebration, just like our 4th of July. Of course at the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park we don’t celebrate with fireworks, instead we have a water parade.
Sherry chose #611. She’s a rather crafty gal and would enjoy watching Ramson, a Hopi glass blower, at the Native American Heritage Days held annually at the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Maybe she’ll make it there next year towards the beginning of August.
Yogi chose #666, “Just cuz I want to see what the devil’s photo is going to be.” I am devilishly lucky because I’ve lost and found this diamond ring twice. Most recently sifted out of the Yarnell fire ashes. Yogi will appreciate this being a geocacher and he likes scavenger hunts too.
Arija chose #365, “in the hope that I will still be around til then.” If you’d like to come house sit for me this winter you can be around for some snow instead of your summer Australian heat.
Bibi also chose #666 “for next week, the devil that I am.” I think the devil made me buy this truck, or at least had something to do with it being a lemon. Very pretty, uncomfortable ride that cost me a fortune. Much happier with the Dodge.
Diane chose #699 and she makes and likes jewelry as much as I do. I think she’ll like this Laramar pendent set in Sterling Silver, a stone found only in the Dominican Republic, although I bought this at Wickenburg’s Gold Rush Days.
Sallie chose #350, “because I so often like the middle of the road choice.” No choice but the middle of the road over the Hassayampa River Bridge on the Wagner Road not too far from where I live.
Melissa chose #29 in honor of her “Unk Rees” born on 12/29/29 who lived in Tacoma, WA at the time of Mount Saint Helen’s eruption. So here’s an image of the volcano taken back in the 90s.
My choice this week is a swallowtail butterfly taken in a friend’s backyard just down the hill from where I live in Congress, Arizona.
Thank you for joining in Foto Friday Fun. I really enjoy digging through my archives and pulling the stories from my memories. To join in the fun for next week leave a number between 1 and 700 in a comment and maybe see your chosen image next week.
Do you have a favorite from this week?
Look for other photos posted on Geogypsy Facebook page not usually seen here.
I have never seen such a gadget/toy as in your first image. Thanks for a wonderful post. Please put me down for #499. Just because it’s one before 500, LOL! Have a great weekend. (((Hugs))) Jo PS My favourite is your photo of the swallowtail. beautiful!
The toy comes from the movie “Cars” which is cute and funny and been around for a while. Have you down for 499.
Wow, super photos, even the lemon truck…. I like Tow Mater and the snow scene. I’ll go for twenty, today’s date as I type.
It was a pretty lemon truck. Have you down for 20.
Wow, that is wonderful about the diamond ring. The devil is certainly looking out after you. I love the Tomater pic cuz I love Cars. It is my second favorite movie of all time. I like that you take photos of bunches and bunches of different things. I take lots of pics also, about 35,000 of them saved on flickr so far. Most of them never see the light of day. I think you have lots more than that.
I’m going with 666 again, I know that is boring to some but my partnership with the devil is working out well for me.
Love that movie. Only 35,000. Heck I took 10,000 pics last year in South Africa alone. Have you down, again, for 666.
OK so here’s what I thought……….LOL at Tow Mater. I’ve never seen him before. Guess that shows I don’t watch cartoons or have young children or grandchildren. Great picture of Mt. St. Helen’s. I’ll be happy to take the pendant off your hands any time. Bet Ford won’t be happy to hear this advertisement. Glad you dumped the lemon if they wouldn’t make good on it for you. I’ll pass on the housesitting in the snow but you are SO right that I’d love to be at Native American Heritage Days. I’ll work on that.
Watch the movie “Cars” to see Tow Mater. It’s very cute. As much for adults as kids. Have you down for 616.
I was in such a hurry to click the Native American Heritage link I forgot to say please may I have 616 for next week?
Love the Laramar pendent and also that beautiful butterfly. Keeping sort of the same how about 696 for next week. Keep warm and have a wonderful Christmas, Diane
Merry Christmas to you and Nigel.
Have you down for 696.
Oh Gaelyn, how I would love to house-sit for you and feed all your hungry birds and enjoy the snow. I could not thing of a nicer thing to do and frankly , apart from Mt.St.Helens, if is my favourite photo too. all that snow would counteract the heat of the last three days 38, 44, and 38 degrees Celsius respectively. On the middle day I almost melted away.
Since my brain was dribbling out of my ears the day before yesterday, I can’t rationally pick a number so I will go with 1, 2, 3 if that’s alright.
OMG, 38 is bad, 44 is unbearable. I would send you a snowball if I thought it would survive. I hope you have a freezer for lots of popsicles. I have you down for 1,2,3.
Ah Tow Mater—-thanks for that. I feel hokey hokey at times and that is perfect.
As always your pics and stories are great.
I will choose #1 because Bob’s birthday is the 1st month of this new year and he is #1 in my life now.
MB
#1 it is. And an early Happy Birthday to Bob, in case I miss it.
Gaelyn I love all your images … it gets harder and harder to choose a favorite. But if I had taken that butterfly, it would definitely be my choice for any week at all. I’m taking a little blog break, so I won’t choose a number this week, but I’ll be reading. Want to wish you a good Christmas, if you can take time away from trip prep to relax and enjoy it!!!
Thank you Sallie. Enjoy your break and Merry Christmas!
