Thank you for joining in last week and sending in your favorite photo. This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 7 images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives. Very heavy on Grand Canyon images this week. Guess that’s a good thing because I only have 3 weeks left to my season, unless there’s a government shut down and then I’m finished September 30th.
Yogi chose #101 and I know he likes to run along a river near his home so think he’ll like the Paria River near Lees Ferry. Of course the trail along here might be a little difficult to run on.
MaryBeth chose #1010, “just because.” Well just because I could I camped at Point Sublime and got to watch the light change in Grand Canyon from morning to dark.
Sherry chose #605, “the house number they put on the farm after they took away my great RR2 Box.” I don’t think this Giant Kingfisher seen at Kruger National Park in South Africa worries about a house address as much as where its next meal will come from.
Diane chose #912, “Not only the new number plate of our car but a Porsche model as well.” I know she likes classics and although I didn’t see any Porsches with this group I do see classic car clubs several times each summer at Grand Canyon.
Sallie chose #500, “Along with a tree-named street, it was actually our first street number after we were married (and the hot upstairs apartment was not as nice as the number sounds!).” I at least hope from the top floor you could watch the moon. I had to go out onto the Bright Angel Trail for this shot of moon rise over the Walhalla Plateau at Grand Canyon.
Bibi chose #19, “since oh, gosh, I forgot my daughter’s anniversary, which was the 19th.” I think she missed a window of opportunity. But nothing like this rock window over Curly Creek Falls above the Lewis River in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near where I worked at Eagles Cliff General Store way back when.
Elaine chose #111 which takes me back to enjoy a Yarnell sunset. Won’t be long and I’ll be watching those again.
My choice this week of Watson Lake was taken along the drive from Yarnell to the canyon in Prescott, Arizona.
Thank you for joining in Foto Friday Fun. I really enjoy digging through my archives and pulling the stories from my memories. To join in the fun for next week leave a number between 12 and 1200 in a comment and maybe see your chosen image next week.
Do you have a favorite from this week?
Look for other photos posted on Geogypsy Facebook page not usually seen here.
Again, all lovely photos! My favorites are the first two. Last week I chose 111, so I’ll continue the theme with 222 this week.
Thanks Elaine. Have you down for 222.
So many wonderful photos, how does one make a choice? I think I’ll go with your choice this time,I like all the elements being in near perfect relationship to each other, the sky, the ancient bare rocks, the lake and the green on the near side. Yep, I really like tat.
Thank you Gaelyn for supporting me through the tough times. With a little effort, I have left them behind and am moving on and enjoying every minute of the life I have left.
Talking of enjoyment,, could I have 1066 please? Nothing like dipping into English history and coming up with the Battle of Hastings.
I like the lake photo best too.
I know these have been tough times for you and am glad to hear that you are continuing on with life. Be happy.
Have you down for 1066.
Hi Gaelyn, #1010 is amazing! What’s even more amazing is watching the light change from morning to dark. It must have been a great experience and sight.
I love camping on the canyon rim so I can just sit and enjoy the changes.
I love my giant kingfisher. What a shot! You do have the most beautiful photographs. Those first two are just stunning. I sure hope this shut down the government ridiculousness doesn’t happen. What in the world does Monsanto need protection for I ask myself. We need protection from them. I’ll take number 606 because I think it’s right in the middle where clearly I usually am not. 🙂
I’m crossing my fingers that Congress, for just once, does the right thing.
Have you down for 606.
What a beautiful shot you posted just for me—well and everyone else too. All the photos are nice. Love the full moon.
I choose 826 because it is the house number of my beautiful home where I can sit on the deck and see down over the tops of trees all the way to Mt. Rainier. MB
I sure like the sound of your front porch and hope to enjoy that view with you one day. Have you down for 826.
Regarding your comment: Our beautiful blond dyed here hair brunette just to see what it looked like. Awful I think. Makes here look way older and her spark is gone. that’s just me talking. MB
Agreed.
Lovely photos! I just recently moved out west so I really need to do some national parks!
Thanks Aryn. So much to see in the west.
Another diverse collection of great photographs. I loved the #101. I could probably do my run, shuffle, walk, along that river. It looks very inviting. The canyon photos are always outstanding.
No paved trail along the Paria but still doable.
Favorite? Gotta go for the lake. Thanks for the waterfall! I grew up in Harrisburg, Pa, and there was a Gifford Pinchot Park not far away. Is that the one, or is he of larger fame? I’ll go for #4, my (so they say) lucky number and the date next Friday.
Gifford Pinchot was the father of forestry and I do believe came from PA. Have you down for 444. 😉 I too am math challenged.
Well, of course I am mathematically challenged. Between 12 and 1200, you said, so 4 won’t do it! Okay, 444!
Love those old cars, what a fab photo, thanks. I have added the numbers together this week from my year of birth and come up with 17, a change from the model numbers.
It’s like a step back in time to see so many classics. Have you down for 17.
I knew you’d like those classics. Have you down for 17.
I like “my” picture, because I love moon shots and this one is spectacular. But your choice of Watson Lake, in all its technicolor glory is definitely a close second. Well, really it’s kind of impossible to pick a favorite when it comes down to it…you never show anything that isn’t amazing.
I hope you are still working next month (for you and for the sake of the country, …)
If it’s not too late, I will pick 906, for what time it is at this moment.
Thanks Sallie. I like to share the photos every week.
I too hope I continue to work thru the end of the season.
Have you down for 906.
Watson lake is a great place and a great hike. I especially love your Kingfisher shot!! My number choice is 2023….the year I can retire:)
I’ll have to hike at Watson one of these days. Have you down for 2013, which seems so far away.
This week I’m torn between the full moon rising over the Canyon and the Watson Lake pic. Or maybe the very first one. Choices, choices…. I choose all three.
My choice (see choices again) for next week is 120. To keep to the 12 – 1200 theme
That Watson Lake shot did turn out good. Have you down for 120.
