Although I’m always hoping for the most amazing action and head shots of wildlife while visiting South African National Parks quite often the animals are walking away. It’s a different perspective for sure. So I thought I’d share some safari butt shots just for fun.
Elephants are my favorite animals and they ignore visitors very well.
Animals are quite frequently seen walking on the roads, away from approaching vehicles. Never a good idea to chase them so instead just slow down and enjoy the view.
I find birds to be the most difficult to photograph because they are rather flighty.
Some animals show butt most of the time.
It can be difficult to identify the animal by only it’s butt, but it’s a great way to learn more about their identifying features.
While some butts are almost unmistakable.
Once in a while you get multiple species’ butts.
And sometimes it’s hard to know if you’re looking at the front or back.
Or maybe they’re just lazy butts.
The end.
But… the zebra’s butt is pretty classy but that wrinkly elephant at the end is the butt to beat!
All butts are classy. Even ours. 😉
Hilarious post. I’ve never seen anyone take on the subject quite so, uh, candidly. Very funny. And it’s true, I’ve got plenty of butt pictures too. I have these great ambitions of the next Nat Geo shot, but sometimes all you get is tail.
LOL at your “theme for the day”. What a riot! How long did it take you to go through so many pictures and find the butt shots? They are great!! You have enough “The End” shots for many many posts. But you didn’t say which were he butts and which were she butts. :-)) I am still laughing as you can see. I must say that zebra butt in the collage gets my prize for most beautiful with runner up to the giraffe. Thanks for the smiles!!
I pulled these shots while labeling. Told Joan I was going to do a butt post while we toured the wildlife parks. Sorry that I can’t always tell which is male and female. Glad they made you smile. 😉
What lovely butts. 🙂
Very nice butts!
Hilarious, and interesting. Now you will probably get a lot of hits from pervs googling “butts” like I do when I post pics of “skirtlifter” geocaches.
Thanks. I totally didn’t think of that when choosing the title. Guess I’m not a perv either.
Hahaha! Excellent butt shots. I like bird behinds–so silly. MB
I can always appreciate a good butt with no judgement call.
Gee, after seeing all of those “tushie” shots, mine doesn’t look so bad after all! 😉
Dancers have good tushies.
Made me laugh on this gray Oregon morning! and happy to know I’m not the only one with a collection of butt shots….except of course mine are more common butts.
Nothing common about a butt. 😉
Hi Gaelyn, nice collection of South African safari butt shots! It’s like all the animals are mooning us. Some say photos of elephant behind is lucky.
You certainly have caught the be all and end all, especially the end all of butt shots in this one! No pleasing everyone, some like boobs, some legs and others BUTTS, yep, ya got it gal.
That zebra butt portrait with the plait markings on the tail is priceless! I think the gods did that one before the second whiskey, that precision needed a particularly steady hand. I find birds from behind particularly hard to identify unless they are particular friends of mine. The ostrich one can pick by elimination, since there are no other birds of that size on the continent but most of the others ???
the last elephant butt reminds me of my mother’s face in old age, it also was deeply wrinkled with so much life etched into it. I bet that elephant, front back and sides, could tell some tales . . .
Some of my best shots are of butts, lol! Thanks for making me smile.
Fun! Gotta agree with Arija on the zebra butt–priceless!
Such a fun collection!
You were lucky not to have seen any with eyes in the back of its head!
That would have been kind of fun.
Butt, but, butt, but, butt, but, butt, but….. Bwahahahahaha. A stunning set of photographs, even if its all butt shots.
😀
LOL!! You sure got enough butt’s didn’t you? Love the elephant one most of all. I wonder if I look like that from behind? LOL!!
Told you I’d do a butt shot post and almost added you. No way yours looks like an elephant.
Really nice theme going on there. I’m glad you put them all together. The pics remind me of the drawings in Everyone Poops. There are two birds that caught my attention…..the larger one walking the road…..what in the heck is that? and second….the birds on the Giraffe? Really interesting.
The big bird walking away is a Southern Ground Hornbill and the birds on the Giraffe are Red-billed Oxpeckers.
Great idea! Loved all the variety:)
Thanks. That was a fun post to put together.
