This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 6 images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives. Seems to be a lot of significant dates chosen.
Jo choose #3105, “just being today’s date!” And by now is probably on holiday in South Africa where this photo was taken. The sedimentary rocks look similar to what I see at Grand Canyon. But this beaconing pool at the base of the Great Waterfall is located along Meiringspoort Pass, one of the many mountain passes I drove in South Africa.
Firefly choose a significant date, #2000, the year he got married. Having met his sweet wife the Damselfly I believe she would like to receive flowers like this for a camping/anniversary visit to Golden Gate Highlands National Park, South Africa. Maybe Firefly can identify this blue beauty of his home country that I saw along the Echo Ravine trail.
Sherry chose #645 to stay with me on the raft trip I took on the Colorado River. Seems this experience is now seriously on her bucket list. Wonder if the size of Hermit Rapid will change her mind. This adventure remains high on my list of life highlights.
Barb chose #6869, “my hubby’s and my ages. (Unfortunately, he never lets me forget I’m 6 months older).” Once you visit the Owl House in Nieu-Bethesda you’ll never forget the other-worldly home of concrete and ground glass sculptures conjured up by Helen Martins obsession with light and glass.
Bibi chose #2347, “my first love’s birthday.” I could see the love of a child when Bongi and her mother played on the beach at Tsitsikamma National Park in Nature’s Valley, South Africa.
Arija chose #25949, “the day we embarked from Naples as refugees bound for the unknown continent of Australia, without any inkling of what we could expect except that suddenly we had to learn English. It happened to be my 13th birthday.” I’m sure I have well over that many photos but not in a numbered sequence so I’m sharing a most recent photo of Angels Window seen on the North Rim at Grand Canyon. I choose it also because I think that Arija is an angel who has survived to teach others about the love of life.
My pick from last week’s camping trip to Point Sublime showing the last rays of sunlight glowing on a small temple deep in Grand Canyon.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun. It’s so much fun to dig through my archives and pull the stories from my memories. If you’d like to join the fun leave a number between 1 and 100 in a comment and maybe you can see your chosen image next week.
Which one is your favorite from this week?
Remember to check out the Geogypsytraveler Facebook page for more photos.
Looks like I’m first today. YAY! Meiringspoort is a stunning drive and stopping at the waterfall is a must. I’ve driven past Golden Gate but have never stayed over and would love to. Sorry, don’t know the flower though. The Owl House is a stunning must see place in the Eastern Cape. Not to be missed.
I’m sure you left out a zero unless you just want us to pick a photo from your first 100 pics. My choice3 for next week is a random number of 8000 on the dot. (If its only in the first 100 then round it off to 80). LOL!
I did mean to make the next week’s choices only to 100 so you’re in for 80. Have to change it up once in a while.
You really need to explore Golden Gate. Post for there coming out next week. The Owl House was amazingly weird.
Hi Gaelyn, we’re in transit in Dar Es Salaan at this moment and fly to SA early tomorrow morning. I love the last photo. Amazing. I would love number 100 just because! We will be on our bike and probably in Namibia by next Friday; I’ll catch up on blogs again the week after ! Have a great weekend. (((Hugs))) Jo
Have fun visiting family. I’m jealous about Namibia, maybe next trip for me. Have you down for 100.
Well I don’t know about those rapids. The picture looks great but I’m such a chicken when it comes to any physical risk. Still…….I really want to do it. How about 77 for next Friday???
The rapids looked scarier than they were. Like riding a roller coaster, much fun. You’d love it. Have you down for 77.
All beautiful photos, thanks for sharing!
Thanks you two.
That last photo is amazing. I can’t remember what models I have picked now, how about 968 for next week or have I already said that one? It is going to take me weeks to get back to normal. So many photos to see to and I was not well on the cruise either, so still trying to get back to full recovery, I will be back blogging soon i hope. Take care Diane
P.S. I hope that you got the postcard.
I did get your postcard of a castle in Carcassonne. What an amazing sight.
I need to post about several received postcards from readers. It’s so much fun.
I will be posting about Carcassonne soon, it is the most amazing place.
Oh so not fun to be sick while on holiday. Hope that’s past now. I’m sure you’re going to have lots of photos to share from your journey.
Because your choices this week are from 1-100 I’m putting you down for 68. Just thought I’d change it up a bit.
Welcome home!
It is so hard to choose a favorite on your Foto Fridays, because your pictures are so diverse and all so wonderful. I adore the mom and daughter one…just so heart warming. the one you chose for Arija is beautiful and your reason perfect for her and for us.
Thank you. I’m on time this week reading, so let me choose 619 the address of the first house we ever owned ((and the first house where we ever remodeled a kitchen, not that that’s been on my mind lately or anything ;>?)!)
Glad you could join in this week. Have you down for 619. Will kitchen remodeling ever end. 😉
Wow all excellent shots. I like them all. Angels window is very nice. Well I’ll say it again–I like them all. The flower looks like a Sisyrinchium (also called Blue Eyed Grass) but that’s here and maybe not there. So who knows. MB
Thanks MB. I’m hoping Joan will let me know what the flower is.
I love Arija’s choice the best – and her story. Second is that CO River photo – brings back fond memories! Let’s try 1944 next – my birth year.
I hope to get back on the Colorado River someday. Have you down for 1944.
Love the last photo! How can I join? It would be nice to see what picture my favorite number would turn out to be 😀
Thanks Freya. Just leave a number from 1-100 in a comment to join in.
I’ll go for 22 then
OK, got you down for 22.
Thank you so much my dear friend. My eyes were awash with tears so I could not see to type a comment. You my dear are one of those precious Earth-angels who appreciate the wonders that we have been given and has the talent to open other people’s eyes as well. The Angel Window is just perfect, I just have to wait a little for my wings to be able to fly through it.
My favourite by a smidgeon this week is the last one. You know me, I am all for light.
May I have no. 99 please? Nine is such a full and pleasing number . . .
Thank you Arija. I know you as an Earth Angel too. Please don’t be in a hurry to take wing.
I have you down for 99 this week. We’ll see what that brings. Hugs.
I really like that last one! The light is wonderful! We’re coming up on the solstice and our maximum sunlight, so I’ll pick 621.
Thanks Elaine. Have you down for 621.
What a fun lot of memories in these photos Gaelyn. They are all keepers.
