This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes nine images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives. Seems to be a National Park theme going on. But then I visit a lot of parks.
Arija chose 1958 as “ the year my darling daughter graced this world with her presence.” These dolphins graced my view during sunrise at Tsitsikamma National Park in South Africa.
Lu-Gerda chose 2012, a location in her home country at Golden Gate Highlands National Park South Africa.
Melissa was reminded of an old phone number when she chose 4868. I was reminded of heaven when this image of the waterfall corresponded with that number. This was taken at Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge, a place I long to return to.
Barb chose 810, “ages of 3 oldest grands.” That doesn’t quite add up to me but this view of Grand Canyon from the Hermit Road on the South Rim sure does.
Sherry chooses 2780 which is so appropriate for her regular heron sightings in Florida, but this one I saw at Mountain Zebra National Park in South Africa.
Janie chose the current year of 2013. Back to Golden Gate Highlands National Park with the stream that feeds the pool seen in #2012.
Diane keeps choosing Porsche model numbers and this weeks #924 brings her yet another car, just not a Porsche. This rusty rig is seen up in the Weaver Mountains near my winter Yarnell home. Maybe she knows what model it is.
Jo chose 2003, “the year our precious granddaughter, Eryn was born.” Knowing how adventurous Eryn is, I’ll bet she’d climb to the top of this fire tower near Jacob Lake, Arizona if given the chance.
Firefly randomly picks #6193. Yet he knows those high numbers will show him somewhere in his beautiful country of South Africa, like this sunset over the Indian Ocean at Tsitsikamma National Park.
I hope you’re all enjoying Foto Friday Fun because it gives me an opportunity to share more of my 100s of 1000s of photos. If you’d like to play along, please leave a number between 1 and 8200 in a comment and maybe you can see your chosen image next week. Which one is your favorite from this week?
Remember to check out the Geogypsytraveler Facebook page for more photos as I label all the images from South Africa I post every 100th shot.
Wow, thanks Gaelyn.I love the waterfall in the Wild Spirit camp, reddish water colour is so typical of the Cape. All the photos are brilliant as usual and yes, young Eryn will probably one day visit your beautiful country and climb that tower (with four siblings close on her heels!) My next number choice is 6332, our landline telephone number when we lived on the diamond mines of Namibia. Have a great weekend. (((Hugs))) Jo
You should check out Wild Spirit on your next holiday. I can imagine Eryn and siblings climbing more than a fire tower around here. Got you down for 6332.
Thank you Gaelyn for yet another great Friday show. There is something in each one to make it a favourite. I am torn between the grandeur of the oh so Grand Canyon, the Indian ocean (both for their magnificent light) and that green, green valley. It has been brown here for so long that green is balm not only for my soul but my eyes as well.
If I may have another pick, it would be 1898, the year my wonderfully resilient mother was born. She was the epitome of mother earth.
It is obvious your Mother was of the Earth as you are too. The lush green on the hillsides is deceptive from a distance yet when walking thru the shrubby land on gets a feeling of calm. Got you down for 1898. Be well.
Ha ha, talk about the opposite to a Porsche but guess they can also go rusty with time. I am starting to loose track of the models, but I don’t think I have said 914 as yet for next week. Have a great weekend Diane
If #914 comes up a car also I’ll be sure you’ve been looking into my puter archives. 🙂
How perfect that my choice was a South African heron. They don’t look any different than my Florida herons. Are they? How about #66 next week?
There may be subtle differences to their herons. I saw black-necked and the goliath in South Africa like I’ve never seen here.
Glad I got a Grand Canyon one. I assume you’ve arrived safely. I have an 8 year old grandson and twins who are 10 – 810! More grandkid ages: 567
Sorry, I forgot about the twins. I arrived to the North Rim Wed afternoon and start work Mon. Got you down for 567.
I really like that last sunset picture! Spectacular! As it’s snowing again out my window, I’m choosing the temperature as my number for next week: 28. I certainly hope it’s warmer than that next Friday!
The sunset is my favorite too. I sure hope it’s warmer than 28 next week or that snow will never melt and what will the birds do.
I love your Fun Photo Fridays! The pictures are always so diverse – and it seems like so much fun for you. My fave this week is definitely the last shot of the Indian Ocean – very moody. My number selection for next week is 310 – for March 10th – the birthday of both of my grand-daughters, but 20 years apart!
I am having fun with this digging out photos old and new. You’re down for 310. Wow, 20 years apart.
I’m loving the ocean sunset too!! I love my waterfall, too! It reminds me of a postcard I have that is calling your name!! 8*)
I’m thinking of 5689 in honor of my son’s birthday. May 6, 1989. 8*)
Thank you!! 8*)
The sunset was my fave this week too. Takes me back to South Africa, as does the waterfall. Will be able to receive mail at the canyon now. You are down for 5689.
Thank you! Did you get the first postcard I sent? It may have missed you! 8*)
Yes I did get the first postcard and have been meaning to post it. Thank you.
Love them all. I’m a sucker for sunsets, so that one has to be my favorite. This is such a fun thing you’re doing; I’m probably too late again already. Don’t know why I can’t seem to read blogs of a Friday. I’ll choose 208 if I’m not too late.
That sunset shot is my favorite too. You’re not too late wit #208.
I chose well. What an stunning sunset in the Tsitsikamma. You’re making me want to go there for a couple of days again. *sigh* For next week I’ll choose 7158. Just another random number cause all random number will bring up beautiful SA pics, like you said.
Thanks. That had to be one of the most gorgeous sunsets of my visit to SA. You keep picking those high numbers and they should be SA.
Okay….it’s been awhile since I’ve played this game:) How about 1982?
Such incredible beauty with each and every photo. And I can only imagine the memories you have from each place while taking them.
Got you down for 1982.
Finally got back to where I can check your posts … can’t choose between the Grand Canyon and the Sunset on the Indian Ocean … just beautiful. I’ll go with 2994, the number of the home we sold before beginning our fulltime life on the road.
The sunrise on the waves was my favorite this week. Will see what 2994 shows.
