This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 10 photos chosen by readers. Hope you’ll pick out your favorite and join in the fun next week.
Susie of Arabia really liked last weeks zebra photo and this week chose #2378, a phone number from her past. I dialed in on this pair of Pale Chanting Goshawks at Camdeboo National Park near Graaff-Reinet during my recent travels to South Africa.
Diane likes Porsches so chose #911. Sorry no Porsches, instead you get a 1939 Royals Royce Phantom that I saw parked at the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Hope that will do.
Jo’s choice of #3999 this week takes us to the Hogsback Arboretum in South Africa. I’ll bet she stood in front of this California Redwood only days after I did.
After liking the red rocks last week it seems appropriate that Barb’s choice includes the red rock of another canyon. Number 10 was taken from the Walhalla overlook on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. A special treat with a bit of rainbow thrown in.
Because I’m a little dyslexic, this week’s selection of #67 for Arija shows more of my old art work from 1988. I’ve always wanted to paint with watercolors yet always make mud when mixing paint. This one at least turned out pink. And how fitting the flowers are for this gardening lady.
Guess I have Sherry fooled into thinking I’m a “fabulous photo artist.” Really I take so many photos I just get lucky sometimes. Although I have plenty of fall color images from the Kaibab Plateau her choice of #1980 is rather dull. Check out Sherry’s site for the lush colors of Florida State Parks.
Elaine likes the “fabulous stories” I share. Her random #1001 of Red Butte was taken on the fly as I left the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Side mirrors work great when the sun gets in your eyes.
Janie chose #61 because that’s how hold she’ll be this year. Although that’s not old, this seems to be the week for my old art. Before digital photography I captured the likeness of places I lived sometimes drawing from my favorite sitting place. In this case the apartment living room long ago in 1988 when I was still married and we lived in Bakersfield, California for nine months. Exactly how long the school term was for my step-son. Notice the maps on the wall? Even then I dreamed of travel but my ex-husband wanted to cruise the world in a sailboat and I’m really more of a terrestrial person.
Lu-Gerda lives in South Africa and I wonder if she’s been to Golden Gate Highlands National Park in the Free State, #2021, where the cliffs turn golden at sunset.
Lynda chose #1307 as the condo number where she’s currently staying. I hope she doesn’t find any Hippos in San Carlos, Mexico. If you do, please send them home to Kruger National Park where they belong in South Africa.
I hope you’re all enjoying Foto Friday Fun because it gives me an opportunity to share more of my 100s of 1000s of photos. If you’d like to play along, please leave a number between 1 and 6000 in a comment and maybe you can see your chosen image next week. Which one is your favorite?
If you want to see more of the photos from my recent trip to South Africa check out Geogypsy’s Facebook page here.
Gaelyn, thank you for my roses. Always remember it is not the result that is important, it is the doing. As long as you enjoy that, even mud pies at least will be genuine.
I had real trouble choosing between four this week but finally settled on the one that resembles me most, yes you guessed it that rounded hippo behind! If I get a chance of another number 98, the year my mother was born. No, not last century but the one before.
I haven’t painted or drawn anything in years. I tend to change arts and crafts every few years. And I DO NOT believe you resemble the hippo. 98 it is.
Ha! You don’t have me fooled at all. These pictures are great. I’m not even going to try to pick my favorites. What a great game. Ok let’s try a big number like 5261 a street number of mine in reverse. This is like playing the lottery except you can’t lose!!
Thanks Sherry but I’m no pro just have a happy shutter finger. I’m sure 5261 will be a winner.
Seeing your pics make me want to travel around this beautiful country I live in. I really need to make a plan to visit Hogsback at some stage soon again.
If I may I would choose nr 4500 for next week. If Hogsback is 3999 the 4500 would be either PE or the Tsitsikamma
You really do need to take the family to Hogsback. Will have to see where 4500 takes us.
Gaelyn, you are BRILLIANT! What a great post game. Thanks for choosing my number – yes, I was there a few days after seeing you in Knysna. My favourite is the photo of Goldenn Gate because I miss home. And my next choice is 13 because I was born on Friday the thirteenth and my father, who wanted a daugther said it would always be his favourite number. Awww. Thanks for this exciting post. (((Hugs))) Jo
It’s fun for me too getting to see some older photos. I thought you’d like the SA shots. A great reason to choose 13.
I like everything but I want that car the most. 🙂
Wouldn’t that be fun to cruise around in.
All very cool shots, Gaelyn. MB
Thanks MB.
I’m loving this photo number fun. I especially love the first shot! Very cool finds! Happy weekend!!
I really do have 100s of 1000s of photos. And l haven’t even plugged in the external drive. I’ll do that this week. Have a great time at the Sea.
Finally getting back to blog reading … Great photos that I am sure carry great memories. I’ll go with 2009 since that is the model year of the motorhome in which we are fulltiming.
How wonderful that you’ve been too busy to read blogs. Hope the gnats flew away.
One of the reasons I take so many photos is to help capture the memories and stories. Down for 2009, which looks like a nice mobile condo.
The Walhalla overlook photo is spectacular! I love the light.
My #61 is an interesting time machine into your life many years ago. With all the maps, it’s obvious that you wanted to see the world, and now you’re having the opportunity!
For next week, I choose 4270, the address of my childhood home.
Thank you Janie. That Walhalla shot is one of my all time favorites.
Been a wanderer since childhood.
The Rolls will just do me fine. I will get a chauffeur and sit in the back and wave to everyone LOL. I think the next porsche model will have to be a 928.
Some great photos here. Have a good weekend. Diane
Glad you weren’t disappointed it wasn’t a porsche. I believe you’d look mighty fine in the back seat of the Rolls. Got you down for 928.
Love my hippo! Not exactly indigenous to our Sonoran Desert surroundings here in San Carlos, MX.
Glad you like the hippos even if not seeing them in Mexico. 😉
Gee, what an amazing variety of photos grouped together. Thanks for including me! My fave is the hippo. Hope life is good!
Thanks Susie. Posted another hippo shot in today’s post. Life is good! Hope for you too.
I like them all. 🙂
Too late again for this, but just letting you know I love it!
Thanks Sallie. A new Foto Friday Fun goes out tomorrow. Maybe this week you’ll get a chance to choose a number.
