Had to go to Wickenburg to take care of some banking before I leave for South Africa. Don’t want them denying me from overseas. That has nothing to do with Reno. But Wickenburg is a western town so I do occasionally see someone on horseback.
But Reno is where these cowboys were headed just not in the most conventional manner.
When I saw this truck pull into the carwash as I drove by I looked for the first place to turn around.
Have to respect Don’s inventive idea of washing the dust off these life size bronze sculptures before he waxes them and takes them to Reno. I’ll bet he’s headed to the 2013 Safari International Convention January 23-26 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
Don is not the artist but does own Montana Lifestyle Fine Art and represents painters, sculptors and musicians that “brings Montana into your home.”
The sculptor of these fine bronze creations, Bradford J Williams was raised in eastern Colorado out on the range. He’s a self-taught artist and one of the most sought after in his “cowboy way of life” genre. I can certainly see why. I was ready to saddle up and ride to Reno too.
Capturing the present for future memories of the past
Mighty fine looking sculptures. We were also in Wickenburg today & checked out a few statues downtown as well.
What a find. I love western sculptures.
These were outstanding.
What a great think to stumble upon! Those are beautiful sculptures — and it’s so whimsical to think of the cowboys riding to Reno on a trailer — and, for that matter, getting bathed along with their horses at the carwash….The whole post just makes me smile….
Me too Sallie. Just envisioning it made me smile. Cowboys and their horses going through a carwash. What fantastic sculptures. Wonder where they hang out when they aren’t in Reno?? Wonder where his other work is displayed. Great find Gaelyn
Unfortunately I didn’t see a whole lot on Bradford Williams website.
I do love Cowboys. Those are great real life looking sculptures. Park them in my backyard. LOL
We (Bob and I) will be in Phoenix probable the third week in March. MB
I’d like them in my yard too but couldn’t really haul them around with me.
I fly in March 21st. Hope we can meet up.
Haven’t set our schedule in blood yet will try for after March 21. MB
Wow these sculptures are fantastic, the only reason I would realise that they were not alive is that they are all the same colour. Diane
I really appreciated the detail.
Beautiful statues. I really like these. I’m also preparing for my trip to India, making a list, checking it twice. Last time (which was my second) I hardly forgot anything, so hope I’ll not forget anything this time.
I know what you mean about the lists. Fortunately most things we could forget are obtainable after arrival. Have a great time!
Hi!
We have extremely similar to the one where they are shaking hands here in town, I wonder if it’s the same actually!
Good to find you still her in blog land, I have just returned!
Welcome back Sarah. Hope you are well.
I guess Bradford Williams’ work is well known, just not by me. Wonder if your cowboys are his.
Something like this would really make for a very interesting conversation piece in any town.
Oh no…I am going to miss these…they are usually parked on the other side of Wickenburg as you come in from Phoenix. I just love the one of the cowboys shaking hands….reminds me of my dad and his old ways. Have know idea how much but if I win the lottery I would love to have that one..
And I don’t even remember seeing them before.
Wow, what a happenstance “guest” find. Great post! 🙂
Thanks. These sculptures are awesome!
I had forgotten this post of yours. What a find including “Binding Contract” that I had posted about. Apparently there are several copies here and there. I got on William’s web site and one can buy another copy for $60K. I think I will just enjoy the one here in the Tulsa area and save my money.
At that price, you should buy two and send one to me. I’ll tow it behind the 5er. 😉 He does amazing work!
