Do you have a National Park pass? If you visit more than 4-5 national parks a year in the US you certainly should. In South Africa you should buy a Wild Card for the same reason. Saves you money on entrance fees and helps the parks.
South Africa’s SanParks operates much like our National Park Service with a mission to “develop, manage and promote a system of national parks that represents the biodiversity and heritage assets by applying best practice, environmental justice, benefit sharing and sustainable use.”
And they offer the Wild Card which gives unlimited access to more than 80 Parks and Reserves around Southern Africa. Membership is valid from date of purchase for 365 days and is available for an individual, couple or family.
I’ll purchase a new Wild Card at the first park I visit as my old one expired and a few things have changed since 2010.
How do you support national parks?
Capturing the present for future memories of the past.
I wish I had known about the card when I was in S.Africa, I would have visited many more parks! Diane
I will be getting my senior pass on my next birthday…. and I also want a national park passport book These are my presents to me (as U become an official senior citizen) and a visit to my fav restaurant, a local one, The Cowboy Cafe. It is full of antiques, so I should fit right in.
The senior pass is the best spent $10 and good for the rest of your life.
We both have golden age passes — the best bargain in the whole entire world. I am almost as excited looking foward to your trip as you must be!!!
I’m not quite there yet for a senior pass.
23 days until take off.
I have an outlaw senior pass. I doubt I will show it. I don’t know what the guy who sold it to me was thinking.
He wasn’t thinking. Maybe a newbie, or burnt out. Because the pass system is not totally computerized with You as the pass owner it was a $10 donation.
Love my national parks pass and my passport book too. Love my national parks. Love my national wildlife refuges and my nwr passport book too and I just got a Florida state parks passport book.
The Wild Card is a great thing to have if you visit National Parks on a regular basis. I wish I had more time and money to go and visit more.
I’ll bet you have a Wild Card for when you do get a chance. Especially with Addo in your back yard.
Kathie keeps reminding me to do it…and now you:) So yes:) I’m on it now:)
Saves you a lot of dollars in the long run, plus supporting the parks.
