Sure glad I had Friday off work and all the chores done so I didn’t have to go outside in the snow. Much nicer to watch it from my windows. Of course I didn’t get any snowy canyon photos by staying in, but I stayed warm.
Must be about time to pack the lawn chairs.
And follow this western bluebird south.
The snow melted the next day under bright sunshine and cool to cold temperatures.
Wow, we are still running the air conditioning.
I think the wet system you got snow from moved over here and dumped our first big rain in a long time. Thanks for not hogging all the moisture!
You’re welcome.
Oh, my! Is this early for the first snowfall there? Brrrr….you’re making me cold just looking at those pics!
Not really early. We often see a little snow in October. Then it melts and doesn’t return until I’ve gone away. Which is soon.
Oh this post brought back so many memories ! Our first Winter camping experience was at the Grand Canyon-we were young, stupid and totally unprepared-lucky we didn’t freeze to death. But we learned and eventually spent a wonderful Christmas day there-decorated a tree with popcorn, cranberries and nuts and cross country skied all day. Park was practically deserted and we loved it-won’t ever forget that time..thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. You must have been on the South Rim for Christmas, a great time to visit when it’s not usually very crowded.
Cool shots of the snow there, Gaelyn! Is it early this year. I keep hearing that it is going to be a bad winter. I hope not! I would want to follow the birds south too!
Thanks Eileen. Not really early. We often get a little October snow. Then it melts and I do head south, very soon.
Yikes, that’s a little too cold for me. The RV group that I belong to is at the Grand Canyon at this time and reported some very cold nightly temps. Stay warm! 🙂
Are they on the North or South Rim?
They are on the South Rim. They’re camped on FR-688. GPS: 35.926463, -112.130238.
Thanks Cheryl. Of course I’m a Long ways away on the North Rim.
Thank you so much for sharing your days, I always look forward to your posts. when will you be heading south?
Thanks Bonnie. I head south to Flagstaff the 22nd and then a few days later on to my winter home in Yarnell.
You keep that cold wet white stuff up there! We are having a beautiful Autumn in NM! How much longer will ypu be at the North Rim???
Thank goodness that nasty white stuff is gone, but it’s staying cold. I pull out the 22nd for Flagstaff for a few days before heading to Yarnell. Glad you are having good weather in NM.
the seasons they are a changin’
Therefore beauty is witnessed beyond the air we carry with us that requires conditioning.
As long as it’s not air conditioning. 😉
Snowing at the Grand Canyon and in Virginia we haven’t even had our first frost. I like the snows that come for a day or two and then melt. It’s the long string of very cold, I don’t want to go outside, days that make me want to go south. You’ll be gone in just over a week. It seems you just got there to me. I’ve really enjoyed being able to see the North Rim even though I couldn’t go there. Thanks!
Maybe next year you’ll make it the North Rim. I don’t like prolonged cold. That’s why I head south. This winter, way south.
I don’t know but that sounds perfect to me. I’d be staying close to home as well. You are so lucky!!! Beautiful….to visit. Let the Bluebird know that he is more than welcome to come on down. We’re waiting:)
Is that where they go?
Yep, I’d say it’s about time to get out of there for sure……
One more week.
The snow looks pretty in the forest, but I’m glad it didn’t stay. Too soon!
We could see some snow on the mountains after we had some rain here in the valley, but I think that melted, too.
Your landscape looks about like mine though most melted today except on the high peaks. Enjoy the cool weather!
Cool weather really isn’t my thing Barb. I’ll be happy to head south in about a week.
Definitely time to get out of Dodge! I thought I was going to make it to the North Rim this year, but it wasn’t to be – maybe next year… Still want to meet up some place!
I pull out the 22nd for Flagstaff then after a few days continue to my winter home in Yarnell. Where abouts you gonna’ be this winter?
Probably Apache Junction or Yuma. Isn’t Yarnell awfully cold in the winter?
Yarnell is at 5,000 feet, so we usually get a little snow but I’ve never had to shovel it. It can get a bit cold in winter. But I don’t plan to be there all winter.
Oh yeah, it’s definitely time to head south!
Suddenly I’m very disappointed that you didn’t walk to the canyon for some snow pics.
Sorry, I was cold.
