Those crazy gals from The Good Luck Duck are boondocking out on the Kaibab National Forest not far from Grand Canyon.
Of course with a Great Big Duck and a itty bitty car they can’t really get too far off the beaten path.
So on one of my days off last week we all loaded into my Big truck and went for a ride through the forest to the canyon’s rim at Crazy Jug Point. We rode about 35 miles on good gravel road doable by most vehicles unless there’s been a lot of rain, plus be prepared to either move down trees across the road, or turn around. I brought rope along this time but didn’t need it.
There was not another soul anywhere around, except for us three.
The silence upon our arrival was palpable.
A monsoon storm hung over the plateau to the southwest but we never felt a drop.
Thanks for an awesome day and a special treat for me when Annie drove us back. She likes Big trucks.
To tour more of the world go to Our World Tuesday.
How special to have the place to yourselves; what a treat! It is so beautiful. I love our state!
We do live in an amazing place Debbie. I love to share it with others.
I love places that are so peaceful, sounds like you had a good day. Thankfully we live in a place that is mostly peaceful and often you could hear a pin drop 🙂 Diane
I love living with the quiet found here at the canyon. Rarely even hear a plane or helicopter because so the no flight zone here. Glad you live in a quiet place too Diane.
Your North Rim location is so beautiful with these secluded places like Crazy Jug Point just calling for a jeep drive. Need to check out some of those boondocking sites! Lynda
Lynda, I hope you do bring a jeep and come check out the many remote sites on the North Rim. Let me know when you’re coming so I can go along.
You can almost feel the silence in some of your photos, Gaelyn, and so much beauty!! You do indeed have a beautiful world! Awesome! Hope you have a great week!
Yes I do live in a most beautiful place Sylvia. But then so do you.
All to yourself…or to the three of you. A little piece of Heaven. 🙂
Definitely Heaven.
What a fantastic view and wonderful to get to share it with friends.
Colleen, the canyon should be shared with everyone. Hope you’ll make it here someday.
Yay! It was a most excellent day! Thanks a thousand times.
You’re welcome. Had a Great time!
Awesome day. Everyday is something different and what a treat to get those views. I sat there thinking…..rain over the Grand Canyon. How relaxing to have this right within your sights:) Plus getting to meet new people all the time. It’s so green right now and I can only imagine the peace and serenity of it all. Wonderful shots of your world and company.
Chris, I’ve enjoyed this monsoon season more than any other. Hope you visit someday and I’ll show you around also.
Oh so magical–just beautiful! I’ll go check those ladies’ website –they sound like fun!
Thanks Sallie. You’ll enjoy The Good Luck Ducks.
Yeah, yeah, Sallie – come on over!
You are a great tour guide, Gaelyn! Someday, I, too, am going to take a ride in your BIG truck! The blush of fall is already starting on your grasses.
Thanks Barb. I’d love to give you a ride in the Big truck. The blush is actually wildflowers. After all the rain we’re enjoying a second bloom.
I’m thinking Point Sublime, Grand Canyon might be just the place to do some camping.. Always enjoy all your posts
Joe, next time you visit prepare to camp. Except Point sublime isn’t a place you can get to with a RV.
I saw your post and did some research.. I’m a tent camper would just need to rent a 4 wheel drive..looks like a great spot
Joe, if you rent a 4×4 go to Toroweap, just not in the heat of summer. The most unique view straight down 3000′ to the river. Let me know when you go.
Your pictures of this amazing place are always so wonderful but you have outdone een yourself with the monsoon picture. I want to frame it and never let it out of my sight. You have said the magic word when you say “silence”. It is a mantra of mine. So few people even recognize the noise pollution with which they are surrounded. So few places to get away from it. Lucky you 3!!
Thanks so much Sherry. Soundscape is protected at Grand Canyon. We rarely hear a plane or helicopter as the main canyon is a no low flight zone. I love to listen to the world and loud noises can hurt my ears. Yes, very lucky.
What an awesome place. Although I love the city where I live. The call to experience that tranquillity, scenery and escape from humanity that you describe so well is calling me.
I’m not much of a city gal Marie. You should come for a visit.
Hi there – that really does look a good place to get away from it all. Another addition to the bucket list!
Cheers – Stewart M
Stewart, everyone should put the Grand Canyon on their bucket list.
