Who wants to see the canyon on a clear blue sky day with no shadows and a flat landscape, unless you’re a bird.
Cooking one’s brains during the middle of a hot sun baked day doesn’t appeal to me near as much as under cool clouds.
Listening to the thunder as the dark clouds roll in.
Trying to capture the elusive lightning.
Feeling the cool breeze that precedes perhaps a few much needed drops of rain.
And best of all, sharing it with friends. Geri and Chuck from phunnyfarm are visiting and I’m so enjoying sharing the canyon’s moods with them.
Today we’re off to breakfast at the Grand Lodge and this afternoon we’ll enjoy music and dancing at Native American Heritage Days.
Great photos….Finally some rain in Ohio….
Glad you got some rain.
Love these photos especially the one of the rain. Hope you had a good breakfast and I bet the dancing was good. Take care Diane
Breakfast, company, music and dancing were fantastic.
I would love to catch more birds like that soaring over the desert. Morning or evening probably. If they are flying out there in 115 degrees during the day, they need therapy. Love the rains shots. Looks like it’s bouncing off the earth.
I don’t usually get lucky enough to capture the birds so this is a rare shot. It couldn’t have been more than 80 degrees, so this bird probably passed on the therapy.
absolutely gorgeous!
I love seeing the rain clouds pouring down!
Thanks. I always wonder if the rain is really hitting the ground deep in the canyon.
Those are fabulous pictures. How do you do it? None of my canyon pictures were ever that good. Such terrific color. The rain so clear. Ok so what kind of camera is it??
Thanks. I’m using the Nikon D5100 and learning every day.
Great shots of Mother Nature at work. Really caught the rain.
Thanks. I absolutely never tire of seeing Mother Nature at work or play.
Who wants to see the Grand Canyon(again) on any day at all? I do!!! Love the play of light — and hope you got enough rain to do some good, but not too much to spoil your plans.
You should definitely come for a visit. Some rain falls, but we didn’t get wet.
Hope you had a fun day. Love the first shot with the Turkey vulture, condor? in the background. The Native American Heritage program sounds great.
Enjoyed a wonderful day. The native music and dancing was outstanding. It’s a turkey vulture.
Gaelyn, I never tire of seeing your beautiful world. And through the rain it’s amazing! Love the Native American Heritage Dancing! I wondered if you saw Traditional Zulu dancing while in SA? Have a great weekend. Hugs Jo
The canyon is amazing in all moods. I didn’t get to see traditional Zulu dancing. Next time for sure.
I’m jealous of wherever you’re pointing your camera in that fabulous landscape Gaelyn. Hope the rain keeps coming for you (and for me).
Barb, you really need to visit. Hoping you get the rain also.
We had a wonderful time Gaelyn! Thanks for being such a wonderful hostest with the mostest!
The stormy canyon photos look 3-D. Great shots, Gaelyn. The clouds and rain do make the canyon even more fascinating.
Thanks Janie, that means I’m getting better with the camera, photography and processing.
So beautiful!!
I think I agree with you, but its hard to say without haven been there myself. I would like some clouds with blue inbetween. Lots of colour with shadows and sun. I would love to see one of those monsoon storms approaching like in your pics. Wow!
Hope someday you get to visit the Grand Canyon with your family Firefly.
