When leaving Page, Arizona on SR89 south the sculpted red and tan sandstone of Echo Cliffs surrounds you.
Then the road drops down to the Marble Plateau and turns a sharp north becoming SR89A.
Where you drive below Echo Cliffs.

Beautiful!
My favorite shot is the last one with the sun shining on that patch of rocky cliff on the mountain – gorgeous!
It is so beautiful. We’ll soon be in Colorado — Yay, we’ll see mountains for ourselves. Meanwhile, thanks for sharing yours.
I’m back!!!:) Thanks for the tip on the owls! I will definitely check it out. Life is going to become a little hectic in the next several weeks here. Fun…but hectic! I love as I drive up to Northern Arizona how you’ll go through these rock transformations into another kind of landscape. The little rock canyons:) also add some visual punch to the roads and drive:)
yaay colorado!
fantastic shots of a magical place!
big hugs!
WONDERFUL photos and I love your new banner.
It is like you are tearing through the mountains and surging ahead. Great captures.
Great post.. will be out that way in July
I love the scenery in Arizona and Utah. It makes driving through them an absolute pleasure!
I remember being there, so very gorgeous with vast views.
your photos are dreamy gorgeous!
Great shots.
Sydney – City and Suburbs
I absolutely love the reddish sandstone in this area! Great photos!
I haven’t had much time to comment on blogs lately, sorry. The red colour of the Echo Cliffs is kinda what I imagine a lot of the cliffs around there would look like. Its kinda the feeling you get about Arizona watching the old Western movies.
Hi there – the colour of the rock is similar to central Australia.
That last picture is splendid.
Cheers – SM
Lovely drive, we had some echo cliffs nearby in S.Africa and I used to love calling from them 🙂 Diane
Love your blog — also Fab Grandma’s — wondering how she is
