Friday morning I woke up, opened the blinds and saw the sunlight filtering through the Ponderosa pines. Sigh. Home, at Grand Canyon.
Later I went to look in the canyon. Just had to make sure the Big Ditch was still there.
I love being in the park before it opens to the public, so quiet and peaceful. Not a soul around, no questions to answer.
The Lodge slowly being unbuttoned.
There’s very little snow anywhere.
So nice to be Home.
The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park does not open to the public until May 15th.
It looks beautiful but, even without snow, I am sure it is chilly. Love your RV parking spot.
I think I recognized those buildings. The big Lodge one for sure. Wondering if the statue of Brighty is in there.
I am glad that you are settled and that you have a break before the crowds arrive to enjoy it all. Diane
What a great place to be, especially before the crowds arrive. Just like it’s there only for you.
You can feel the quiet and serenity in your photographs! Then Canyon is so beyond words!
Ahhhh….so glad you made it. Take a deep breath of that air for me! Maybe we’ll get over there this summer.

I think I’m going to have to bring Brighty the Burro up to visit the statue of her namesake. Was up there a few years ago and sure preferred it to the North Rim. Beutiful place.
I can’t wait to read your new stories and adventures for a new season. Thanks for sharing with us.
Dear Gaelyn, Don’t rub it in! What a “grand” view you have!
Glad to hear the Big Ditch is still there!!
You are so lucky to be able to stay there before the crowds arrive. I need to get back there someday.
Glad you made it in one piece. Now you breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy. I completely understand what you mean before the “park opens to the public”. I’d have moments like when I did my bit with state park back in Wisconsin. I’d come an hour early just so I could get my coffee ready and sit and relax before the gates opened…..because one we opened, there were a million things going on….racoon stole a tupperware container last night, can Imake a reservation for?, where’s the lighthouse?, bathroom sewers have backed up, underage drinking going on in campsite 12, “annual sticker” costs 25 dollar, etc etc…..but that was fun as well:) But having that coffee and watching the deer walk past the ranger booth in absolute quiet….perfection.
Home is where you hang your hat and it looks like you found the right peg. MB
More great posts… good to see Mike again!
I hope that truck has nopw stoped giving you trouble! Gas… bad bews! You should think diesel next time! 😉
I bet its good to be home and at least you have a couple of weeks to settle in and get ready for the influx.
