The drive to Quartzsite takes me into the Sonoran desert where it feels like the middle of nowhere. Just where I like to be.
And then there’s Quartzsite, which during this time of year offers a little bit of everything to shop for.
Rocks from around the world. I refrained as I already have too many rocks in my head, plus all over my house and yard. But someday, I want an amethyst geode big enough to sit in.
Carvings in rock and wood.
Berta bought one of these unusual air plants called bromeliads. Although it doesn’t need to be planted, just watered once in a while, my black thumb would surely kill it. I can’t stand to watch plants die.
I went to Quartzsite to shop for beads.
And came home with some some great finds.
Hi Gaelyn, I also like feeling like I'm in the middle of nowhere! Great shopping mall you have there. Laid-back and peaceful. We have huge swarths of bromeliads growing in our gardens. Easy and maintenance free. Hope you're having a great week. (((hugs))) Jo
Gee whizz, I'd love an amethyst sarcophagus like that. I brought back some nice amethyst beads from China.
Love those plaited baskets too.
Love the new look! We haven't been to the Quartzsite show and we are only 2 hours away…NO EXCUSE!
I have always wanted to take a bath in one of those amethyst geodes.
I would love to go to the bead shop. And would you mind sending me air mail that big amethyst geode? It's my birthstone… :<)
Those bead should keep you busy until it's time for your next adventure.
What a fun looking place, Gaelyn! I could enjoy some time there for sure! Love the beads!! Hope you have a great week! Enjoy!
Sylvia
The middle of nowhere is a great place for refreshing the soul and feeling as if you are a very special being! Love it! These photos of the "market"? area are so colourful and almost exotic! I would be mesmerised by the rocks, and only limited by what I could carry!
I would come home broke if I was let loose in there!!! Diane
A little bit of everything! I would have brought home some of those Bromeliads – I think they're funky. I have my plants trained to not expect pampering. So far so good.
I like the added column. I tend to like the 3-column layout generally (although, ha ha! I don't have it on mine…yet).
Also, your ear vines are very pretty! How much do you charge?
That's my kind of shopping, and I can't wait for the gem and mineral show to get to Tucson. Love your blog!
That looks like a fun shopping area. I enjoyed the tour.
That looks like a great place to take photos. I'm an anti-collector now but I like looking at stuff like that.
I like your new format. I'm a fan of a three column look. I've been told by more than on person that my layout is way too busy because of the three columns, but I keep it because I like it.
That market looks wonderful! Hard to resist all those lovely things, but finding some nice beads I'm sure was satisfying enough.
Oooo, Oooo, I like markets like this. I have some of those air plants. Exactly the same. Some hang by the washing line, some by my post box and some sit on the window sill. I don't bother with them and in summer I may just pour some water on if I remember. Otherwise they are hardy and do their own thing.
I love the color of the huge amethyst. And, I must say that those bromeliads really look tempting even though I'm not very good with house plants.
Quartzsite is definitely an interesting place. Almost everything can be found someplace if you look hard enough.
I would have so much fun shopping there. And a bit of that sunshine would sure feel good right about now. – Margy
Thanks for the memories of Quartzite — like you, I'd rather be out there on the desert, but still Quartsite during season is something everybody should experience at least once.!
That looks like such a fun place to be! I could spend lots of time enjoying Quartzsite! Promptly added it to my bucket list of places to see.

P.S. Your new left hand column isn't wide enough on my screen. For instance, your name in your profile is split on two different lines. Is it showing that way for you?

Hi! Someone in my Myspace group shared this site with us so I came to take a look. I’m definitely enjoying the information. I’m book-marking and will be tweeting this to my followers!
