Quartzsite is a normally sleepy little town along Interstate 10 between Phoenix and the California border. Except during the winters. Any time between November and March the snowbirds descend and spread out into RV parks and Bureau of Land Management desert around Quartzsite.
December through February vendors set up to offer most anything you can think of that you probably don’t really need. It’s a gigantic rock show and fleamarket, with other crap thrown in. In another life I sold stuff and things at a fleamarket in Quartzsite and almost starved to death.
FabGrandma was happy with the bead selection in 2009
As many of you may know I have a thing for rocks, and beads, and jewelry, and cool old stuff which Quartzsite is full of. Haven’t been there in a few years and that’s saved me a whole lot of money. But now I’m feeling the need to return and check it out. Plus I have a small want list. So Berta and I are going to Quartzsite, just under two hours each way the way I drive.
And I should have some goodies to share when we return. Have a great day!
Sounds a great place to browse – and safer if you have a list and stick to it!! Done a few craft fairs over here with my own 'stuff' and have decided it isn't for me, not sure what is though!
Ok, I need some help. When you say snow birds do you mean the actual feathered type and people come to look at them, or do you refer to people like you fleeing the snow for the winter?
The way you two gals get along, that should be a whole lot of fun. Just don't buy so much you have to add a trailer!
That looks like an interesting place. I'm sure we'll get a report on your return.
You know, we've never been there during the winter to see the rock show or exhibits! That will be on our "to do" list!
Have fun! Hope you find great beads and interesting minerals.
Yay! Field trip! Have some cake there too. And have a wonderful time!
Lovely sunset. Take a bag of cash with you. Do you bargain there?
I'll be interested to see what you bring home.
Have a safe trip.
I just love those wonderfully descriptive place names that some towns have. Quartzsite certainly qualifies!! And I also love me some beads shows so guess it's a good thing I many, many hundreds of miles away!
P.S. One of these days I'm going to learn to proofread – but not today apparently.
You and Bertha are probably already on your way to Quartzsite , Gaelyn. Hope you're having a WONDERFUL day. Thanks for your continued comments on my blog posts. I knew you would relate to a lot of our safari. Sorry I'm not always such a regular visitor. I hope to rectify that soon! (((Hugs))) Jo
Have fun!!! Can't wait to see what you find!!!
Love the sunset!
Good luck Gaelyn!
Thanks for posting about this place. I've heard about it many times. I really love your last sunset photo. What a magical color.
Hope you found a lot of treasures.
