The metal fold down steps on the 5th-wheel have a 9.5 inch rise, almost 2 inches more than a normal step. Very difficult to reach the door handle while balancing precariously on a tiny platform and then step back down to open the door. At least for short people like me.
I wanted a set of nice wooden steps, so Mike measured and drew up plans.
Then we went to the lumber store.
Within a few hours of sawing and screwing (get your mind out of the gutter)…
…my new steps were finished. Thanks Mike.
That will make your life so much easier especially if you are carrying parcels or bags as well. Well done Mike. Diane
It was a pleasure to do! And seeing you smile when you tried them was awesome!
Mike did a great job! It's always handy to have a skilled carpenter at your service.
Great work, Mike. How nice it is that you have a husband who is so thoughtful and handy, Gaelyn. Enjoy the safety of your new steps.
You are VERY welcome! It was my pleasure 🙂
Those RV steps don't work well for tall people either, believe me.
Good for Mike! He's a keeper ;>)
I see Mike has a Honey Dew list! Good job, Mike!
He did a nice job. I'm glad because I am familiar with the little steps and how they can be precarious.
Swank!
Isn't Mike handy. Those new stairs should serve you well.
Gaelyn, after I stopped laughing I just had to admire those fine steps!
A great improvement! Sure is nice to have a handy guy around.
That's gotta be more comfortable at climbing.
P.S. Can I borrow Mike? 🙂
great steps…he did a great job!
happy weekend!
xx
Mike is a definitely sweetie.
Who has their mind in the gutter—I think a little you know what is wonderful after hammering and stuff. LOL
Steps look grand. MB
What a sweetheart Mike is to build you those steps that will make your life so much easier.
I have no specific comment on the stairs other than I would like a set also.
My primary reason for commenting is to say that I have now become current with your postings. Started at the beginning and have read through all the postings and comments. It has been an enjoyable trip!
I'm not sure that I'll be reading your posting on a daily basis from this point forward but I will be coming back frequently to remain current.
Perhaps our paths will cross also as I wander north through AZ this spring.
Where is Mike when we need him?!! Lucky you (and him)!
Must be hard to have him 5 hours away. At least he comes to visit. Its handy knowing somebody so handy.
They look nice, a splash of paint would make them pretty.
Yay, Mike!
I'm still giggling because clearly my mind is in the gutter *laugh*.
I'm a true fan of yours as well, FYI.
Nice to have a craftsman around to solve such problems. It looks like a great improvement.
I enjoyed the double entendre.
Damn, but he's handy…and cute to boot!!! Nice steps, babe.
Nice to know such a handy man! These steps are so much safer than your previous setup.
