After four glorious days floating 138 Colorado River miles it was time to return to work at the North Rim. And what a way to go.
Up, up and away.
Pilot, Galen, flew us over the Grand Canyon to the west of the no-flight zone.
The big picture is even more mind boggling than standing on the rim.
And the river I just came off of.
Smoke from the Point fire which burned and smoldered all summer.
Leaving some of the view a little smoky.
Beefalo on a meadow in the Kaibab National Forest.
Forest Road 22 at Jacob Lake cut off.
Grand Staircase Escalante.
Kanab, Utah. And I can’t believe it’s over.
Wow Gaelyn, an aerial view of the beautiful country you live in! Thanks for sharing. (((Hugs))) Jo
glad you returned home safe and sound, gaelyn!

love all of them:)
What a treat that ride must have been!
How cool first the rafting trip and then a flight over the Grand Canyon. What more could you ask for? I'm sure the views were just fantastic from the plane. Your photos are wonderful!
What fantastic shots!!!
These photos are mind boggling! I can't imagine having been on the river and then seeing it from so high above.
such awesome views!
I just read through your raft posts, looks like you had an awesome trip. Except for when they gave you the queen bee seat. So wonderful that you gave yourself this gift!
I still say Wow! all work and no play make GL a happy girl. 138 river miles–long trip and gorgeous pics and scenery. MB

What a beautiful alternate view! Must be really interesting after having spent so much time there!
How terrifying was the helicopter? They really trouble me, but I'm determined to ride one someday!
What a trip you had! Super way to end it!
How wonderful to get to see the Canyon from this viewpoint, especially after seeing it up close on the rafting trip. You lucky girl, you!
That is quite a scenic flight. I can't help but remember, though, that my uncle died when the pilot of the airliner he was in decided to show the canyon to his passengers back in 1956. Two planes collided with the loss of all on board.
So beautiful. Someday I want to do that. Along with a zillion other things on my list. 🙂
An absolutely BONUS experience flying over the canyon and surrounding area you know so well. The awesomeness of this trip has no end.
JIm and I flew over the canyon in 1994 in a 16 passenger plane. It was a very grand view–breathtaking for sure. This trip of yours was amazing!
The aerial views are amazing! Thanks for posting them.
What a tour! What a view! Thanks for bringing us along!!
