We enjoyed a long day rafting the Colorado River and after playing at Elves Chasm we floated downriver to make our first night’s camp.
The beach at 120 Mile camp was sandy, soft and spacious.
Plus included previous camper art.
After the boats were secured we formed a line to pass all the necessary gear from boat…
…to beach.
First thing to set up was hand washing facility.
Followed by the kitchen.
We all took turns helping the boat crew prepare meals. And the first night out consisted of pork chops, mashed potatoes and fresh salad.
While dinner cooked we set up camp.
It rained just enough to set up a tent an hour after going to sleep. This caused a little bit of scrambling. But all survived to greet another working day on the river.
Reminds me of scouting. First, unload everything, second set up the handwashing station.
Awesome!! I am enjoying your trip via the blog!!
Loving this journey, it sounds like you eat pretty well also. Those balancing rocks are very clever. Diane
The adventure continues, everyone having a really good time I think. Did you leave your own rock art on the beach too?
Nice set ups of the adirondack chairs. I have yet to experience rafting, must be exhilarating!
What a good time you all are having. Looked like a lot of fun at Elves Chasm. This is work???

Superb location for an overnight stay as long as the river does not dramatically rise overnight . Lovely sandy beach and everything so well organised. Just watching the light change in the canyon would do for me.
Looks like you had a gorgeous place to camp. What a lot of organization that requires! Okay, I guess I'm ever the Mom, figuring out how to feed everyone….
I'm very surprised at how well you guys were equiped on this trip. Good thing the boats has so much space.
this looks fascinating, well organized, well equipped and a lot of fun
I do envy you.
