The fading light lent a rosy glow to the horizon.
A couple of galfriends from work and I went out to Point Imperial last night to watch the moon rise.
We sat out on a great rock promontory and enjoyed a picnic of sorts with a bottle of wine.
We were having so much fun we actually missed when the moon broke over the horizon.
At first it glowed like a pumpkin.
Then the golden glow bathed the canyon in a soft light.
What a marvelous way to greet the moon.
To view more of the sky go to Sky Watch Friday by clicking here.
You're so lucky… rather special place to watch the red moon…
These shots are so eloquent, such a beautiful window into an other-worldly view.
What an incredible front row seat for a moonrise!
no wonder you weren't available for my party! You definitely had a great view!
we got to see the moon as my daughter played in an outdoor volleyball game in Phoenix. The moon is beautiful wherever you are.
Must be a top feeling sitting there
Great one for skywatch! The sky is the daily bread of the eyes. Happy TGIF! Hoping you can visit my skywatch post.
Sounds like a wonderful time, Gaelyn! The moon looks beautiful rising over the Grand Canyon. Happy skywatching and have a great weekend!
I am so envious. I imagine that there must be a lot of people doing that kind of thing when the full moon rises. In Cape Town they head up Lions Head next to Table Mountain to see the moon rising over the city and bay.
Every American should visit the Grand Canyon. It is the national park to see in the U.S. Visit the southern end of AZ to see the fires raging around Sierra Vista. I got the pics from old neighbors who are packed and ready to evacuate since the fires are now just two miles from their home.
Breathtaking! Moon rises are among my favorite pastimes. Haven't seen one over the Grand Canyon in over 25 years. I'll have to add that to my bucket list. Continue to enjoy!
Fantastic in so many ways!
I thought my front porch was the best place to watch the full moon rising…I might have to re-think that after seeing these pics…gorgeous!
How great to share that with friends, glad you had a wonderful time. Your pictures are fantastic!
Looks like you had a wonderful time! It's so good to see your beautiful photos of the Canyon again.
A good moonrise competes well against a sunrise. I love your party except just one bottle of wine;)
what a magical place for one to watch and enjoy the red moon.
seriously beautiful shots!
soo peaceful, as well.
betty xx
Great pictures, G. I took a pic of the moon too—-it was enormous and colored up good.
My computer is still down so I have to go to a friends house to post and/or comment so I will be back from time to time until I get my ornery old thing fixed. MB
LIFE QUALITY!!!
Wow, the moonlight is amazing in the canyon. How fun to have a party to watch the moon come up in such a unique setting.
What glorious photo's … I wish I'd been there! You're an insipiration :o)
Fabulous photos. I visited the Grand Canyon once…But I didn't get to be there at dusk. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos!
That was fun!
Takes me back. I'm from Phoenix, you know, and I adore the canyons, from the Grand to Oak Creek. That sort of geo beauty is so rare.
I could imagine hanging out with you guys (but not too close to the edge) and enjoying the moonrise.
What a great way to enjoy the evening but it looks like you are getting some of the smoke from those fires to obscure the view.
These photos are great! AND…so is your lifestyle! Thanks.
(Came here from the 'goddess'..)
that looks like a perfect experience!
Nice evening captures. 🙂
Wonderful photos.
Nice way to relax with friends, and I like the fact you were having so much fun you almost missed the moon rising.
