Trust me, if I could drive that fast to get out of Texas I would. But instead I go 60-65mph.
Yippee!
It’s prettier already.
The 358-mile drive seemed very long, hot and windy, but I crossed the border.
And made it all the way to Benson. Home tomorrow and praying for a tail wind.
My brain is still on Texas time as I write this. Maybe I’ll be better in the morning.
safe travels!
your photos are fantastic! so lovely sunsets.
betty xx
Where are you headed?
The last time I was in AZ was in 1952 at Show Low in the White Mountains. Lovely place then. One grocery store and one motel plus several bars. Apache Indian reservation at edge of town. I suppose it is all different now.
I saw this familiar welcome sign in AZ when I spent 5 days in Sedona with our hiking group. I have not seen that speed (80) here in CA.
Get rested.
It has been a difficult couple of months, I'm glad you are in the home streatch.
Love the photos, I know the feeling it is so good to get home after a long journey. Safe trip. Diane
Ahhh….Benson. My parents lived there in the 1930's. Dad owned the only service station in town. It's still there only not named Standard now. Dad LOVED Benson. Mother hated it. That's about par for a marriage.
Home finally! I am a native Arizonan-love all of it(except the big cities) Welcome Back- joyous journey!
I have only been in Texas once…and it did seem to go on forever.
Great photos, I know you will be happy to arrive home. 80 is a little fast, I like to save some gas and go a little slower.
Gaelyn I understand the excitement in seeing the New Mexico state sign!Even better the Arizona sign!!
Whaaaa…I want to be back there!!!Enjoy every detail for me!
Wave at the Siguaros for me…tell them I miss them! Whaaaa!!!
I drove through New Mexico (from Colorado to Arizona on I-25 and I-40), and Arizona (I-40, and up to the Hoover Dam) just last week! There's a whole lot of nothing there, but it's beautiful nothing. I've never driven through Texas. Best wishes for making it home tomorrow.
Is the speed limit really 80mph? That is too fast for me.(and too gas guzzling!) The fastest speed limit in Ontario is 100km per hour which is 60 mph. Safe travels.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Home SWEET home! MB
Yippee – you're on the last leg now. I bet you're tired. Will you leave soon for the Canyon? I hope Mom likes her new digs.
Hooray! There's no place like home!
I couldn't even imagine driving your truck at 80 mph… Your almost here! See you soon!
I hope that you are able to rest a little bit soon.
So nice to see the mountains on the horizon. Hope you're resting up after your long drive.
It is such a kick to see the welcome sign of someplace you've been anxious to get to, isn't it?
80 mph limit, so everyone's driving at least 90 I bet. Sounds like fun if you've got the car that can stand up to it.
Never saw separate speed limits for night before. Makes sense!
Have a wonderful time at the North Rim this summer! I have a field class this summer, and we will be touring the northwest and Rocky Mtns (I'll keep up with Geotripper, I hope!). We'll swing through Crater Lake, St Helens, Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Great Basin, and many points in between. Best wishes!
Good for you!
Happy Trails Gaelyn. Your photos are great!
