With all the trials and tribulations I’ve been going through moving my Mom over the last two months I’m finally in my element.
The last two weeks I spent packing about half of Mom’s belongings. She has multiples of Everything and is a hoarder. The plan was for her to move into an Independent Living apartment but she’s really not up to that. So, she ended up in Assisted Living in a beautiful private home north of Phoenix and about 50 miles from my winter home.
This meant that she didn’t need all the “stuff”, especially kitchen stuff which she has at least 3-6 of anything you can think of. Mostly vintage 1960s.
So now I’m unpacking many of the 40 banana boxes and spreading it around the house. Had a lot of help today from my Auntie and a wonderful neighbor lady. Even presold some furniture to other neighbors.
Stack being moved to AZ
Tomorrow I finish the set up and Saturday and Sunday it’s time for a Sale. Come on by to buy.
oh, how I wish I could be there! I love a good estate sale! Do you have any good silverware or stainless? I need a new set. Bring it to me.
Good job I am not there, I can never resist these sort of sales 🙂 Diane
Wow, it seems like you have been under constant pressure for a long time getting your mother moved. I hope that the end of the move is within sight.
Been there, done that. My folks and hubbys mom and aunt…. all within 14 months of each other… If I buy something now, I think about which of my nieces or nephews will think it's junk…. 🙂
Be strong.
Hope the sale is a success and you are settled back into your own routine soon!
I hope it goes well this weekend and that you can get back to Arizona and GRCA!
Hoarding must go along with getting older. My mom and Steve's parents both did the same.
Hope the sale goes well!
All that work packing, unpacking and then repacking anything that doesn't sell. It will seem like a vacation when you get back to work at the canyon.
Good luck on your sale. It will be such a relief for you to settle back in at the canyon. I foresee lots of contemplative time at the rim, just soaking up the peace.
Oh, I would LOVE to come!
I wish I could help you in more than just thought but I have been, and am, thinking of you throughout all this trying time.
Love and hugs . . . Arija
I'm sure you must have found a couple of very interesting collectables when you unpacked her stuff.
Almost done, Gaelyn… hang in there!
I hope things finish well for you there.
Looks like the end, with a sale, is near.
