After a long and arduous journey back to Arizona with Mom this is what greeted me. Mike hung this sign before leaving for work almost two weeks ago.
Ain’t he sweet!
I could probably write a book about the last month spent trying to help Mom and Friday moved her into a safe, comfortable private home caretaking facility. Maybe someday I’ll get around to writing more about this experience. But it will undoubtedly take me quite a while to even process it all. Plus it’s not over yet.
I fly back to South Texas Wednesday morning and have a yard sale over the weekend. Then sometime the following week begin the drive back to Arizona and ultimately return to work at Grand Canyon.
I’ll be around the cyberworld again, soon I hope.

Dealing with aging parents is rarely easy but now at least you've seen your way through much stress and come out on the other side. You are right, though – the story isn't over yet – just another page turned.
Have some fun with the yard sale!
What a nice homecoming. Wishing you all the best as you bring closure to this difficult transition for you and your mother.
Oh but that guy is a keeper, nice welcome even though he couldn't be there himself.
I'm glad that you've gotten your mom settled; hopefully the hardest part is behind you. I was fortunate, my mom cooperated with my attempts to help her, I know that that is not always the case.
How sweet and thoughtful of Mike to welcome you so warmly, Gaelyn. You have been through a traumatic time and still have to wind it all up with the sale. I pray for a safe journey for you and a peaceful result. Blessings and (((hugs))) Jo
Gaelyn, how nice of Mike to welcome you home. I hope things settle down for you soon, I can just imagine all the stress. I wish you and your Mom all the best.
You have been through a lot, to say the least. I don't think I know 1% of it.
That was very thoughtful of Mike!
Wishing you and your mom all the best. 🙂
You live a fantastic adventurous life I can see. HOw lovely of Mike to do this for you.
Ageing parents are not easy to deal with. Nigel's father turns 90 next month and still lives alone. He does not want Nigel to move to France. All very difficult as we have our own life to lead also !!!!! Even more difficult as Nigel has health problems which his father (or sister in Ozz) will not even accept. Diane
And the nightmare seems ongoing but at least you have one shining happening in your life. MB
i know it's really a hard thing dealing with aging parents.
how thoughtful of him!
sending you/your mum positive thoughts and warm hugs!
