Not feeling up to snuff today so came home early from Mom’s and found these two long-billed curlews in my front yard.
Guess they’re pretty common here. It’s a new lifer for me.
The birdsong here is heavenly I just can’t see them all.

I saw these in California and they were life birds for me too. They are interesting to watch as they look for food. I didn't manage to get this close to them though.
Gaelyn, Congrats on your new lifers. What a cool bird for the yard. Great photos.
With this new energy in your life, you can easily probe the many layers that are just beneath the surface.
Sweet sighting! Such nice birds to add to your life list.
Nice, they seem a little skinnier than the neighbor you pictured earlier.
Awesome! What a neighbors!
You have obviously parked in the right spot!
Neat birds. I have never seen one—that I know of. My daughter in Ritzville has taken several pics of them just to show me. Very cool. MB
Love your new header. Great that you have more new neighbours. Hope you feel better today. Diane
Beautiful birds, Gaelyn. I love the curved bills. Your photos are super, especially the second one. Are you in a hired house while visiting your mum in a nursing home? Sorry, I lost track somewhere about this last year when your dad passed away. Blessings and (((hugs))) Jo
PS, forgot to say: hope you feel better soon. Blessings, Jo
Awesome neighbors~ Congrats!!
I suppose I should understand the need for such a beak but it beats me. My imagination doesn't find the answer.
Those are neat looking birds. I'm impressed by those bills!
Really great shots of the curlew. We have them here and there. Hope all is going well there in Texas.
Wow! Those are beautiful birds! I've never seen them before, except in bird books. Lovely coloration … and those beaks!
I've seen curlews at the Ouray Wildlife Refuge in spring. They must be just passing through. The curved beaks are impressive.
They look like a cross between our plowers and ibis. Interesting looking.
