Day four was full of safari sightings at Kruger National Park.
Once again up with the sun.
The baboons greeted us.
A hyena followed us.
I spied a buffalo slowly waking up.
The vervet monkeys entertained us for a while.
Rhino trimmed the grasses off the edge of the road.
A family of warthogs strolled past.
This wattled plover looked longingly at the water.
Where hippos floated lazily.
At the faster water this Goliath heron stood patiently fishing.
Joan picked this cute little chameleon up hitching hiking.
We returned to Sukuza Rest Camp.
While waiting to get online we discovered these epalet fruit bats hanging out.
And after a refreshing swim Joan spotted this leaf katydid by the dressing room. Another full day on safari and one more to go.
I am officially jealous of your trip for two reasons: You got to see hippos (there were none in the area in which we stayed), and your photos of baboons are much better than the blurry ones I snapped. Great recap!
Thanks for the memories…… Great photos. Diane
Gaelyn: Wonderful photos from your trip, what a great place.
Gaelyn, all I can say is, you had too much fun! Love the bats though they would also freak me out at first!
Gaelyn;) I could almost smell the crisp morning air as you travelled through the park at dawn. Thanks for sharing this with us. (((Hugs))) Jo
Wow – I love your safari pics, Gaelyn. All the beasts and birds and insects were out to greet you!
Oh wow!!! You saw so much and were entertained by all these animals or do you think they say you entertained them.
Nice shots in all.

I love that chameleon! My mom used to have one in the kitchen window when we lived in SA. We had no screens and I remember it hanging on the curtains
Phew!! Exhausting day by all accounts. 🙂
Great captures Gaelyn, this sure portrays a good day in the park.
That chameleon shot came out great.
What a huge variety of animals you saw in one day! Wonderful photos.
Wow, all those animals and you weren't even in a zoo! 😉
I love the chameleon.
I don't think you could have asked for a better time in Kruger. It must have been the kind of visit that you will never forget.
What a place! You saw amazing wildlife. I think my favorite is that bright green chameleon.
