As people moved out on the North Rim the deer moved in. One morning I saw a group of does outside my window browsing under the pines. They’re fattening up for the winter ahead. When I return in the spring they will all be skinny.

Beautiful photo of the deer in the trees. I'll bet they're pleased to have the woods to themselves for the winter. Hope they can find enough forage to fatten up for the cold weather.
Such a gorgeous peaceful scene. I'm marveling at all the variations in color of the tree trunks from warm reds to cool grays. Oh, and of course I LOVE all the deer. 😀
I like your play on words too Gaelyn. Yes, I guess this is the lean season for them. Hopefully all will survive the winter and be there to fatten up next summer.
I always feel so sorry for the wild animals during winter and drought. Diane
Lovely woodland scene!
A beautiful nature scene, Gaelyn!
Its amazing how animals survive your snowy winters.
More than likely they will be there next year… Maybe we could "invite" one to dinner some time… 🙂
Well, I wish them a feast then! what a pretty sight!
