Thursday morning we pull the 5th-wheel out of the park, down off the Kaibab Plateau, across Marble Plateau and the Colorado River, through the Painted Desert, past Mt Humphreys and into Flagstaff. I’ll be following Mike in the car.
It really is difficult to say goodbye to the canyon. After today’s share of packing was done we took a walk by the Rim and listened to the thunder coming from the South Rim.
The Lodge is buttoned up for the winter.
We should be back next spring. Until then, goodbye Grand Canyon, for now.
Should have WIFI in Flagstaff where we’ll be staying until Saturday morning.
Have a safe and happy "winter" and I'll look forward to your Canyon posts again in the spring. I'll continue to follow your blog in the meantime – you visit the most incredible places. My hubby and I are planning a trip to Vegas in late winter and are contemplating a day (loooooong day on a bus) trip to the West Rim. Worth the trip I gather?
Lovely photos, but the last one is the best! I know you'll miss the Canyon, but I'm sure you have many fun winter adventures in store for you;
Wishing you both a wonderful winter "break" with new adventures! Love your photos and I, too, like the last one best! Enjoy!
Sylvia
Catching up with you just in time to tell you what a great season it's been sharing your time at the Canyon, Gaelyn. Your photos are outstanding and your descriptions make me feel like I'm there with you. Hope your winter is a good one!
For the next few months I am going to miss it too. Have a safe trip back home.
I am also going to miss the Grand Canyon, but I am looking forward to seeing other areas and of course S.A. Diane
All good things come to an end, but actually only one of your good things is only coming to a temporary end. Look forward to more fun blogs from you.
Will miss the post of the "canyon" but am looking forward to following you around…
That is a beautiful "goodbye" photo.
I can imagine it's hard to give up some of the most amazing scenery on earth, even for a few months.
You and Mike look so happy, hanging out there on the rim.
I think I will miss the canyon as much as you will.
I concur with all said here as of today, Gaelyn. I'm gonna miss the canyon, and I adore this last day tribute by you. And I LOVE the photo of you and Mike! Wow. Your blog is one of my favorite "feel good" blogs, ya know? Thanks for sharing all that you do.
So sorry you are leaving your beloved Canyon. I certainly hope you will be back again in spring.
Where are you planning to spend the winter?
