After about a three hour drive from home via breakfast at Jacob Lake Inn we made our first stop at the Mossy Cave trail head, a little side trip before entering Bryce Canyon National Park.
We were blown away by the towering hoodoos leading us into this canyon as we followed The Tropic Ditch. Because the landscape didn’t offer enough water for farming a 10-mile ditch was hand dug by early Mormon settlers.
Now referred to as Water Canyon the trail climbs 200 feet (61m) to Mossy Cave.
This grotto has an underground spring that seeps through the rocks.
Another short side trail leads to a waterfall.
I loved this short hike,
looking up at the hoodoos and windows.
Then we went to the Lodge, checked into our room and continued exploring the many overlooks at Bryce.
What a perfect day – glorious blue skies!
An amazing place, the scenery, the rocks, the waterfall and flowing water and the great colours. A wonder of nature indeed.
Thanks for taking us along.
What a beautiful place, Gaelyn;) I love the towering hoodoos (I learnt a new word and saw a new wonder through you today!) Imagine digging a 10 mile ditch by HAND. Phew. Have a wonderful weekend. (((hugs))) Jo
What amazing rock formations. You have so much wild beauty around you on a daily basis life could never get boring. Diane

Bryce is just am amazing. Loved your photos and the hoodoos. Sounds like a great get away!
There seems to be no end to the magical places where you live. One can get lost in all of that wilderness and hilly terrain. Excellent images. Well done Gaelyn!
Unique formations stir within us precious moments with one of a kind reflections and recollections.
Gaelyn, You've got some amazing shots here! I love the depth (and color) of the waterfall one, but I also really like the hoodoos and windows. Sounds like a great trip!
Oh my, that sky is about the bluest blue!! What a lovely place. I guess in those days everything had to be done by hand but I have to say, they weren't lazy and did what had to be done.
One of my all-time favorite parks. It's been 22 years since I was there last. Lovely to see it through your lens… and would sure love that hike.
I love the little waterfall at the foot of the hoodoos. Bryce Canyon is so beautiful. This reminds me we need to go back there again soon.
