I feel like Joan gave me the royal tour of the Blyde River Canyon area. And the Three Rondavels was the icing before we headed for Kruger National Park.
The Blyde River Canyon is 10 miles (16 km) long starting at Bourke’s Luck Potholes and ending at the Three Rondavels.
The Three Rondavels viewpoint, also called The Three Sisters, is 4527 feet (1380 m) above sea level.
These rock tops appear to have a hut-like rounded roof like the traditional African style house called rondavels.
The landscape of the northern Drakensburg is overwhelming beautiful, lush and rich in life. I hope to return and spend more time hiking. Yet more adventures awaited as Joan and I headed to Kruger National Park.
Hi Gaelyn, Pics 2 & 3 could pass as the Grand Canyon! I thought the second was of the CO River! I love that misty shot.
It was such a pleasure to have you here and show you around Gaelyn. I am pleased you enjoyed it. That is beautiful country.
Always spectacular shots!
What great scenery. The canyons remind me a little of southern Utah and northern Arizona. We wouldn't see anything like that little hut in the US, though.
I hope you can go back, too. Thanks for teaching me a new word. There's a rondavel of sorts here in Belgrade at the African Museum.
Stunning! I'm so glad I happened upon your blog.
Oh man, Miss G–how fortunate you were to take a deep breath and wing off to south Africa. Well I know you did it so we could enjoy all your pictures.
Excellent.
Thank you, MB
Gaelyn, you gladden my heart with all your beautiful photos and posts about my wonderful country. I'm only sorry we weren't able to meet up. Hope you make the trip over there again soon, with Mike! Thanks for your visit to my blog today. It IS very exciting to be able to photograph what I want to. Blessings and hugs, Jo
The Panorama route really has some stunning sights. These must be some of the best ones.
