So much happening at Grand Canyon North Rim. Summer is on with temps in the 80s. Don’t know what happened to spring, we went from winter to summer.
Artist in Residence Terry Kramzer demonstrated how to make a fabric postcard yesterday. Her quilts are Awesome.
This week is Star Party on both rims of Grand Canyon. Must be at least a dozen telescopes set up on the Lodge veranda. Amateur Astronomers volunteer to share their knowledge of the night sky. And we have very dark skies here. Also speakers from NASA almost every night.
And yes, I’m finally seeing blooms along the trail like this phlox. It’s summer happenings at Grand Canyon North Rim.
Ah, spring is a wonderful thing, especially in natural settings. It got hot suddenly here, too, a couple of days ago. That quilt is fantastic!
From snow to the 80s. How awesome. Be prepared the games have started!!!
BTW: the check is in the mail—cryptic, eh? MB
Hi Gaelyn I see you busy with wonderful things. The stars in the sky what spectacle!
I wish you would take a picture of the Canyon Swallowtail Butterfly. I have seen lots of swallowtails but am curious to know what these look like. I checked on Google and saw lots of things and most were not really butterflies. I saw one called a Canyon Swallowtail by the picture's owner and it looked like what we call a Tiger Swallowtail. Black and pale yellow.
That fist picture is just amazing. I followed your link to look at the quilts; they are beautiful. Diane
I remember the nighttime skies of the Grand Canyon from our camping days on the South Rim. I'd love to be there with all those telescopes. What an amazing sight that would be. I am glad your snow has disappeared and flowers are now emerging! Enjoy!
That's a pretty view of the canyon, and I'm going gaga over Terry Kramzer's art quilts. Thanks for introducing the artist and her work.
Your world is lovely right now Gaelyn. There really was no spring here in FL — I'm not sure if that's always how it is or if this year is different (we haven't been here this long before). But I missed spring!
Love the photo of the canyon and the quilt is lovely. Glad you've finally warmed up.
Having lived most of my life in Chicago proper, I was AMAZED to see the stars in a dark, clear sky at Starved Rock. I would LOVE to look through those telescopes out there!
Gaelyn: What a great place to be and to share all the happenings.
I would have loved to have seen that quilt demonstation! how long is she going to be here?
I would think that is the perfect place to go star gazing as it is in Kruger. What brilliant sights they must see through those telescopes.
WOW love that quilt, it is truly awesome. The white phlox is pretty too.
Four more reasons to visit the Grand Canyon. Love all four pics.
I can imagine watching the sky around there must be an wonderful experience. Similar to the Karoo over here. Doing a star watch with somebody in the know is an awesome and eye opening experience.
I'm sure the skywatching is sensational from the rim. We've never brought a telescope, but the stars are always glorious down there.
Love the fabric postcard with crows and moon.
A star party; now that is something worth attending! It's great you are all doing that – what a great program.
Yippee, wildflowers at the Canyon! Keep that camera handy.
