Squawk! Welcome to TeTemuka B&B
Blue and Yellow Macaws
After driving over 400 kilometers to exchange the wrecked rental car I desperately needed a place to chill out and sleep. I’d already been to Kokstad twice and felt like I knew this town so I pulled in and looked for a guest house signs. There were many to choose from. Luck brought me to the TeTemuka B&B where I was greeted by at least four friendly dogs and the various squawking of what I’d call exotic birds if I weren’t in South Africa.

The front yard was ablaze of colorful flowers.
Hostess Alice
More color abounded inside the house where hostess Alice along with friend Anaka and several children busily painted.

Located in back of the main house, my room provided a family-like comfort matching the warm welcome.
Buffalo
It felt like coming home. Complete with dinner delivered from Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The courtyard outside my door provided a cozy place to sit and relax. And all this for only 200 Rand, just under 30USD. My first B&B experience but certainly not my last.

What luck that you found such a lovely place Gaelyn. I must add that I have stayed at a lot on my travels and as a rule, they are all good.
What a fabulous place…I might have stayed an extra night or two! After your hassle, I am glad you found a cozy place to stay the night!
No such thing as luck… Good comes from your walk through life in beauty. I just would call it thanks giving thanks for thanks.
What a find. Lots better than a Holiday Inn.
Oh I like what 'Blog with no name' said.
What a nice place to stay and thanks for showing a side of Africa we may not think about.
As for the Eagle nest: I was shocked that it was gone. They are huge so I know it couldn't just blow away. MB
That certainly is a nice place to rest for the night, and so much cheaper than the Holiday Inn we stayed at in Georgia. And it wasn't in Georgia! hahaha.
Simply a fantastic place !! Parrots are so beautiful !!
What a great experience, Gaelyn -such a friendly and welcoming place to stay for the night. Agree with some of your readers, no such thing as luck or coincidents:)
It really looks like a wonderful place to stay.
How inexpensive for such lush and lovely surroundings.
Was that your portrait they painted of you while you were sleeping!!!! Sounds like it will be an adventure never to forget. Stay safe and happy.
No better way to get to know a community….it looks like it was very homey and I love the various art works!

That looks like a lovely B&B. We have stayed at a couple and they were very nice. It's always worth checking out what's available.
Gaely, how wonderful that you landed on your feet and found such a delightful refuge! We often stay in B&Bs and selfcontained cabins in caravan parks. They usually are cheaper than motels, more private and generally more satisfying than blaring TV on the other side of a resonating wall.
Great to see you enjoying your trip even with a hitch or two. Life would not be life without them.
Hugs, Arija
I really like that Buffalo door. Wow. Impressive place this must have been.
Gaelyn: What a neat B&B, it certainly added to the excitement of the trip. Loved the door and all the photos.
I have stayed in only 1 B&B and it was an excellent experience. I should do it more often, but doubt it would be possible to beat the price you paid.
Looks like a awesome spot. Small town b&b's are always so much better due to their personal attention.
Looks comfy. That buffalo door is the coolest!
That is truly a very nice accommodation. So you just twirled around and chose a B&B? I love the little "courtyard".
