Friday night Mike discovered another Turtle Dove egg broken and unfertilized. Yet the devoted parents continue to sit on the nest presumably incubating the remaining two eggs.

Just an update.
Poor mom and dad. They're trying so hard. Sure hope they can hatch the two eggs.
I had a pair of Australian finches one time, and they laid lots of eggs, but none ever hatched. I am wondering if they need a special kind of feed to insure that they hatch? I don't know why my birds were never successful at incubation, maybe they are too young?
Gaelyn, I hope and pray for successful hatching with the remaining two eggs. Perhaps as Karen suggested – too young? (((Hugs))) Jo
I am following this saga with bated breath and I am sure that both the remaining eggs are going to hatch.
Ah, sweet mom and dad turtledoves. The next two shall surely hatch and drive them crazy like normal kids do. Saying prayers!
Awww, I hope these eggs are fertile. Sometimes that happens with first timers. Keep us posted. MB
Gaelyn: Really neat photos of the incubation period.
I am enjoying watching these birds. I hope that at least one egg is viable..Michelle
they are lovely.
Oh how cute this little pair is. I await the birth of their new family. Love and Light, Nina P
They are very pretty birds. Thanks for the update!
Don't worry kids, it's just your first time… Look at it this way, sex with no consquences!
Perhaps they could tell that those eggs were not fertile, and ejected them so that they were able to better care for the ones that are.
Great photos up close! Wow, I've always loved their call. Good luck to the bird parents.
