Don and Angie are still sharing the parental duties of sitting on their four eggs. Friday marks 16 days from the laying of the first egg followed by an egg a day. Typically eggs take 13 to 19 days to hatch. Yet turtle doves usually lay only 1-2 eggs.
Mike could be a Grandpa soon. 😉
PS: Just discovered one egg broken with nothing in it and think it was the second egg laid.
Neat one. Will look forward to seeing the newly hatched birds.
Thanks for the update, Gaelyn. We're all looking forward to meeting the new family members!
Hope some of them hatch. If one was broken and had nothing in it it doesn't bode well.
I wonder why are they called turtle doves. What's turtley about them?
The expectant mom and dad look so sweet together. I hope they are able to hatch at least one egg successfully.
Very beautiful private moments.
you had said they usually hatch 2-3…so with the one empty you are right on 🙂
let's hope for a least a pair 🙂
hugs

Keep us updated. I hope to hear good news soon.
How cool! looking forward to seeing the babies!
Yay grandbirds!
Craig
It's sweet how they sit on the nest together and look content.
Oh I hope at least one egg is fertile. A fuzzy chick would be neat to see. What a Dove babies called? Pop Quiz!! MB
Gaelyn, are you the one who is pacing?
This is such an interesting story and I am looking forward to seeing the hatchlings. We are currently also pacing but for 5 python eggs to hatch. A python was hit by a car where I work and left 5 eggs behind. The should hatch in the middle of January if they are okay and we are holding thumbs.
They should be just the right age for you to take one home as a pet after your visit in March (lol).
Waiting to see the baby birds. They're a cute couple.
I think all of your followers are watching expectantly now, with fingers crossed! myself included!
