Pledging to protect the parks
Because I’m a Ranger I like to earn my Junior Ranger badge while learning about all parks I visit. After our tour of Scotty’s Castle my book was done, yet we still had more exploring to do in the park.
I may get funny looks yet promise to finish all the activities in my book. This made number 13 badge. Hey, I got a late start.

Good point brought up by a reader not from the US so I will explain. Within the National Parks system here, which includes almost 400 sites, a program for kids to learn about the individual park’s cultural and natural history requires completing a certain number of learning activities, by age, to earn a Junior Ranger Badge. Some of the kids I have pledged in have many badges they proudly display on a backpack, jacket, vest or hat. It’s a great way to get kids involved with their parks. Oh yea, I hang mine on a curtain in the living room.
Please tell this uninformed South African how it works. I have no clue what you are talking about but would love to learn how it works. In any case, Congratulations Junior Ranger!
Gaelyn: I'm sure glad you were able to pass that junior test, way to go.
Wow, 13 Junior Ranger badges, that's great! Sounds like a fun program for all ages.
That's cool that you mentor kids like that.
That is so much fun! Thanks for explaining it to non-Americans! 🙂
Sorry you can't see my video. You really must get a faster system! 🙂
Thanks for visiting My Muskoka! Nice to have virtual guests. Have a good Thanksgiving. We are celebrating hubby;s birthday with my brother. Dinner out!
Congratulations. It looks nice too.
Gaelyn,
Very cool and something to be proud of! Bet you would not get the same treatment going door to door trick or treating looking for candy.
Congratulations, Gaelyn! what a wonderful achievement!
Congratulations Gaelyn, on another milestone. You really work hard to achieve them.
That's cool. I didn't know us big kids could earn Jr. Ranger badges, too. I'll keep this in mind on my next park visit.
Lots of people who are grown up kids get those Jr. Ranger Badges. I am going to get a Grand Canyon Jr. Ranger badge next summer.
Congrats my dear friend!! We all have to start somewhere. 🙂
Well I am so glad you finished the Junior Ranger Book. With that in hand the kids you speak with will know you really will do your job right. LOL MB
Congratulations on your accomplishment. I think this is very cool!
Congrats on your Junior Ranger achievement. It must be quite interesting to be a Park Ranger.
Even though I have encountered a number of Park Rangers from the different Historical sites I've been too, they have always been very helpful with any question that I had.
I don't know much about your Trade, but I think that it must be a great job to do. Would not mind being one myself, but I just don't have the education behind me for that. Wearing those brown uniforms with the hat, all the Rangers have been very knowledgeable about the area they are in. You Rangers must have to read up on what is there before being at the Historical Area?

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a great program for all ages.
Congratulations Gaelyn!
Just goes to show you're never too old to learn new things!
I love that you are doing this…
Congrats dear junior ranger!
