I was an adult college student finishing up my Associates Degree at Shoreline Community College near Seattle, Washington. One of my classes was figure drawing and we were working with conte crayons. I still like the slightly abstract look.
Sally from The (Mis) Adventures of Karl and Sally has started a meme where the past is remembered through sharing old photographs and this is #23, I think. I love the idea and hope you will too. So join the fun by clicking here.
You draw so well. I love that…
Abstract–yes. Had you been drinking? LOL MB
Gaelyn: Cool art, way more then a little abstract. As an Engineer I can't do anything this unstructured.
Very nice. You are definitely well rounded. Creative and smart. As always thanks for sharing.

You're a Picasso (Picassa?) in the making! Nice abstract drawing of yourself!
I like your drawing. I am still in hibernation but have spent some time digging into the past and am back in the 1970 – 1977 period. Much of what is on Pick a Peck of Pixels comes from that era or will.
I also dug out some illustrations I did for magazines and books and will post some of them. Not sure but may have to post one or two on My Canon Blog or My Canon Photography so it fits.
Cool! This reminds me of a self portrait Joni Mitchell did once years ago.
You truly are one of a kind! I like your art.
I really like that Gaelyn..I have always been fond of abstract art as it can say so many things…Michelle
That must have been your Picasso stage. Very good.
I am glad you draw. I too loved life classes. We had the most extrordinary teacher, Fred Cress, who died recently in Paris.
You have caught the likeness and character so well.
I could never draw more than stick figures so I really admire talent like you have Gaelyn.
As an ex-Seattle-ite, you and I trod the same ground; we lived not too far from Shoreline. I like your piece of work….and I love the new banner.
Other than having a bit of an eye for photography, I don't have a artistic bone in my body. I actually wish I could paint or draw.
Wow, Gaelyn, that beautiful picture at the top of your blog. Wow!
This is a fun idea and one I shall make a note of for the future.
I could see you in your art work, you are good. Show us more, please.
I like the drawing also.
That's very nice – do you do things in color also? (You know how I am about color.) I hope we'll see more. 🙂
Very nice Gaelyn..i think it would be cool to see how u would draw your self portrait now.
Its interesting how the right side of the face is in the light and how the left side is recessed in the shadows. What was hiding in the shadows back then. 🙂
Very cool abstract art! You're a fine artist. If you ever tire of wandering the national parks, you have another career waiting.
You have such a wide range of talents!
