Almost two weeks ago
The fall colors at Grand Canyon North Rim just snuck up on me.
One week ago
Seems like a week ago the Aspen showed only small patches of color.
Then temperatures dropped below freezing overnight, though not a hard freeze yet, and the fall colors now show boldly.
Shaggy Manes
I noticed these growing along a gravel road, but they were too far gone to eat.
Visitors often ask when the Aspen will go gold.
Ferns
It sort of depends on the weather.
Unknown, feel free to ID
Last year, as I look back at my photos, the fourth week in September. This year about the same.
Guess I’ll start tracking this every year.
Yup, it's official, fall is here.
It's definitely fall at the canyon! Not even closer where I live in southern California. We're cooking out here and I am really ready for a road trip towards Arizona's high country…Very nice photos of the changing season.
Beautiful and lovely shots !! Great Post..Unseen Rajasthan
The Aspen look gorgeous! So, at the north rim you get scenic views, stunning sunsets, Kaibab squirrels, beefalo, AND fall colors?
Lovely pics of fall's arrival. Our aspen change seems to be variable by as much as a week or two. As you say, depends on the weather.
These Shaggy Manes look fine from here. Not inky at all. Its amazing how the enzymes on the top of the fruiting fungus can make there way through such dense and compact soil or gravel.
We saw lots of King Boletes in the Mountains. It seemed like a good year for them.
I just wish fall was a little longer. I love the colors the nature paints for us in the fall. Great pictures. Thanks.
beautiful fall colors I love seeing these pictures. We really don't have a "change" in color, so it's nice to see and I appreciate you stopping by today.
Beautiful captures Gaelyn, especially the contrast of colour in the recovering burn area….stunning. Isn't funny how short our memories are. It seems as we get older everything came faster and sooner.
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.

How dramatic change in the nature. That really makes me sad about these all darkening trees, but happy about mellow red wines:)
In the meantime, I enjoyed reading your lovely note:) Warm greetings from a crispy autumn evening in Istanbul.
Happiest SWF to you~
These are beautiful photos of autumn's appearance. I love the Aspen's gold. I visited Colorado last Oct and they were dressed in their bright fall colors. I am going in Oct again and am hoping they wait for me…
Wonderful shots Gaelyn…and loving the rest of the shots on this page too..what a place to be! Lucky you!
And thanks for visiting my dust storm photos!
There is nothing like those fall colors. Apens are so pretty.
Here tonight in Georgia it is not fall even though it is September 25th. Just finished walking and I am drenched. It is still so humid. Looks like we will get more rain tomorrow.
Very nice series of photos showing the progression of fall. It's well advanced here too. It's amazing how fast it goes.
Lovely shots. I always say I am going to remember to take a picture every year of the same place or thing–but I seem to forget. You are probably more organized than I.
The only things I track are when the Snow Geese arrive in the valley. I have the dates written down. Last year first siting was October 8th. MB
our leaves are just starting to turn colour here, but the larches are still green. it wont be long though…
thank you for being such a loyal supporter of my blog! I really appreciate it.

As the fall colours turn your part of the world into oranges and yellows, the spring flowers in our part of the world is in full bloom.
Gaelyn: Neat captures of the changing seasons.
I love the aspens. We had some in our yard when we lived in Winthrop, and they are really amazing all year long. Enjoy the magical changing of colours!
:Love the fall colors!
and the shaggy manes..a few of those look pretty good to me! I would go out and pick the good ones there and have a tasty treat!
