Last Thursday and Friday Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim celebrated the 16th annual Native American Heritage Days to celebrate the cultural connections of native people to the park. (I’ll post about it soon.) Prior to a flute performance in the Lodge’s auditorium this is what we watched coming our way. Yet barely any rain fell on us.

That is SUCH a cool pic.
Fantastic!
awesome capture gaelyn.
we are having rain around the valley today here. just in from lunch and had a few drops as i was driving back to work.
have a wonderful weekend.
hugs
Spectacular rain shower. Sound like Tampa. A huge threatening storm forms, and then it rains exactly 50 yards away. Not a drop on our heads while watching the show. I look forward to your Native-American photos.
What a cool picture!! Nice blog!
I envy you for spending so much time around the Grand canyon. It seems to be such a beautiful and awe inspiring place. I alway find it strange to see the rain coming in from miles away like its in a dream.
Why do I want to visit the Grand Canyon every time I visit your blog? We haven't been for years and I so want to go again. Wonderful pictures — thanks for sharing.
Pretty cool. Next time I visit GCNP, I would check you out. You know the best places to view the place.
Have a great weekend.
Well, the sky was portending rain – that's for sure! Glad the festivities weren't rained-out. Hope your water heater problem is fixed.
Looks like it's really pouring. It must be strange to look over the rim and know that those drops still have so far to go before they hit bottom. Almost like being in a cloud and watching the drops fall.
Your storms are incredible! Not getting much rain from them, however, is a bit of a tease.
Seeing a storm in the canyon, and yet not actually getting rained upon, makes you realize how vast the canyon really is. Great shot.
Great shot. Like seeing it rain across the street. ;D
Good capture.

Fabulous, Gaelyn! Can almost feel the rain!
Enjoy your weekend!

That almost looks like steam rising. Wonderful shot.
You did a super job capturing that sight. Very nicely done and perfect for Sky Watch.
Dramatic, great picture!
Gaelyn: Nice capture of the wet sky, hard to believe you didn't get soaked. The canyon must be great after a rain.
Amazing it's like someone turned on the showerhead!
What an awesome capture! Glad you didn't get wet! 🙂
That is an amazing photograph. I'm glad you kept your camera dry!
Love this one, the clouds are catching the mountains, stunning!!
Have a nice SWF
Wonderful when it is hot and dry to finally get a decent shower.
You have captured it at close range too.
Amen! That is glorious.
I love seeing the rain showers in the sky—drying up before they hit the ground. Excellent shot.
I love Native American flutes. I have several CDs. MB
I am so glad you were not rained out Gaelyn and cannot wait to see the pics of the celebration. As I siad, this is of special interest to me.
Hope you are doing okay my friend? What happened with the water problem?
Great capture of the moment of 'swoosh'!!
What an incredible photo. The power of nature never ceases to amaze me. I wish I were there, it would have recharged my soul.
Still, what beauty the gray veil brings! Did you ever get your plumbing fixed?
Wow, it looked like a torrential downpour.
