So, I’m not going camping because I’m trying to figure out what to do about my just discovered leaking hot water heater. Right now I’m draining the semi-hot water but there doesn’t seem to be a bypass to turn the main water line off to just the tank. Dam it! I’m not a plumber and don’t want to be one. Also very far away from possible repairs. There goes having fun on my days off. Guess it could be worse and the roof could be leaking in a hard rain. But then I’d just throw a tarp over it. Hmmm. What to do?
So sorry Gaelyn! Guess that if I would be there, I would go on, or change my route and save as much water as possible. There's always a chance that you run into people who would know what to do.
At least you still have water:) Hope help will be on its way very soon for you!
Plumbing and electric, 2 issues I never want to deal with on my own. I hope you get this figured out soon and are able to enjoy some of your time off!
Oh no!!! I just replaced my hot water heater.

Bummer!! Which camper has the leak – the fifth wheel or the truck camper? I hope you get it fixed soon.
So sorry about the plumbing problems and the missed camping trip. Hope you can figure out a way to solve the problem without too much pain and suffering, not to mention lack of hot water.
Oh I'm sorry Gaelyn and I hope you get it sorted soon. I have alot of catching up to do here, now school is settling down I will be around more!
Good luck on your water heater problem. I really enjoy your travels. What an interesting life Geogypsy.
Oh dear!! Wish I was there to help you with this problem Gaelyn. I always find a way to fix things. Hope you get it sorted out soon.
Bummer. I didn't know you could have a hot water heater in a camper.
The wonders of technology.
Dang—what an awful thing to happen anytime. There SHOULD be a shut off valve somewhere. I am so helpful–whay out here. I hope you get it fixed and can travel on. MB
That stinks! Wish I had some helpful tip for you but I sure can't think of anything. Hope you get it fixed soon.
Is this in your perm RV or in your camper? Argh. I feel for you. Plumbing equals typing your body up in abnormal postures. I hope you can find someone to help out; better yet – get the job done quickly.

Gaelyn: If you can find the same size water heater it is an easy fix. You just do a little piping. If you can't get the same size, well that is a different story.
Bummer! I hope that you get it fixed soon!
UGH!!!! I think if I'm ever left alone in this world, I want to do what you do. But times like that would not make me happy. It's not that I couldn't figure it out, I'm sure, but like you, I wouldn't WANT to be a plumber! Maybe it be less trouble than you expect.
oh crap ..I heard about this when u tweeted it! So whats happening?
have u fixed it? ☺
