I’m really into taking panoramic photos. Even before digital I used to line up the horizon as best I could and slowly take 2-10 pictures in a row. Sometimes those would be taped together in a rather collage look as I’m not always lined up right. Some of these I’ve scanned and stitched together very successfully even able to manually adjust some of the images using whatever software I had. I believe the last was an ArcSoft that no longer exists for my Vista.
So now I use Windows Live Photo and sometimes it has a mind of its own. Sure wish I could afford really good image software. Maybe someday. Any suggestions for free or inexpensive software would be appreciated.

that second one it weird! yeah, if you find a good free or inexpensive program, let me know too!
I know it is still a long time to go, but if you have not found anything by the time you get here remind me to give you one. Also look on the Windows website, they have some great free software. I really love that first image Gaelyb and I agree the second looks weird but somehow it is quite eyecatching because it is different. Oh almost forgot…. Photoshop has a free trail I think but you will have to keep on loading it everytime it expires. There is a lot of stuff out there is you Google it.
Try and see if you can get Corel Paint SHop Pro.
Gaelyn, I just knit with wool not photos but the Prof had a programme that came with his Lumex camera that he found to be excellent.
enjoyed your shots today ms. gaelyn…i like the second one. something about it:)
have a wonderful day my friend~
You are doing a job a lot of kids wish they could do. I admire people who work for Nature and the environment.
I hope you are able to find your software.
I was fortunate that the used computer I bought included Photoshop CS2. (But it took me a long time to learn how to use it and now I'm addicted to it.) You might enjoy using Photoshop Elements 7 that Amazon.com sells for $70. Adobe.com offers a free trial so you could see if you like stitching with it first.
Hi Gaelyn,
I'd like to experiment with panoramic, but so far haven't taken time to learn the program! I have Photoshop 6, but mostly use the simple fixes because I take soooo many pictures. How is the weather at the Canyon?
I need to learn to do panoramas but haven't gotten there. Nighttime is my new lesson being learned.
Very nice photo. Thanks for the nice comments on my other posts. Sorry for not responding. We spent the weekend in Okanogan. Oh was it hot! In the 90's. We had a nasty storm as we were leaving today with lightning strikes being reported.
I'm glad to know there are others learning just like I am — right now I'm doing good to point and shoot, but hopefully when my son comes up for my birthday — he's the camera guy — maybe he can teach me some good stuff! I love both your shots, the second one is different but fun!
Have a great week, Gaelyn!
I, too, have panorama software that came with my Lumix camera, but I haven't tried it yet – glad to hear someone here likes it.
That second photo is weird, but I like it.
I know little about photography but I have lots of fondness for pictures, specially those that tell a tremendous deal of stories. Thanks for sharing.
I never do panoramas but I love others when they are done well. You have a marvellous landscape for this kind of photography. I would lose my island in one shot.
You have my sympathy – I know how frustrating it can be if you want to do something but haven't got the tools to do it 🙁
I haven't tried any panorama shots, but you are inspiring me. The first one is lovely, and I'm so glad I clicked to see the larger version.
wonderful vistas and interesting technology.
I think you are doing great. I tried it and failed, big time and haven't tired it since. You have the perfect background for panorama photos.
I don't know anything about panoramic shots but yours look great to me.
I can see why you would like panaramic photos when you live in such dramatic settings. Your second photo attempt there could be called a panaramic butterfly! It is very artsy if nothing else. I like them both!
That second photo is quite interesting!
Smiles
I love that! Whatever you are using it works for me. It's a painting, no it's a photo, no it's water color…
It looks to me that you are doing pretty good with the software you already have.
Cool pictures! I'm software clueless, however.
The panorama is beautiful I can't figure out the second one though The heading of your blog is breathtaking You've got the most wonderful job I see
Wonderful, challenging, and beautiful.
Hey..I think that is very cool.
My new camera comes with stitching software. Sorry cant help..but do like the second photo..did the program stitch it like that or did you do that on purpose?
We've played with our stitch feature, but I'm always disappointed that the stitched images don't really capture vast feeling of the real deal.
We just use software that came with our cameras. I'm sure better stuff is out there, but I don't know of it.
I love both photos..I don't know of anything free and aren't good with the PSE that I do have..Hmm… You might go to PC World and see if they have a suggestion in their online library or one of the online digital camera magazines…
