View east across the Marble Plateau
Took a quick drive out to Point Imperial this afternoon to take some pics for a program I’m working on. It snowed on the way there.
View southeast, note the smoke at bottom right
There was thunder and lightning, which I find exciting. And I saw smoke in the canyon so called it in to dispatch.
Yes, that’s snow and hail right outside my door.

I had forgotten that it can snow where you are this time of year. It must feel strange. Great pictures of the storm.
Beautiful snaps of stormy grand canyon
Whoa! Simply stunning!
Whoa! Simply stunning!
Yesterday it snowed for about an hour or so at the entrance station. it was cold and wet! Brrrr…..
It SNOWED?? In MAY??? My goodness Gaelyn!! I hope the smoke was not a serious fire. That sure was some hailstorm you had there.
We had snow and hail in Ontario yesterday as well, very unseasonal even for Canada. What is the altitude where you are? I like your photos.
Well hell! There’s somewhere colder than Montreal these days!! Great pictures.
great captures gaelyn…hard to believe there is snow the first of june. have a lovely day.
I also enjoy really wild weather. Nice pics.
Snow in June is the last thing I picture when I think of the Grand Canyon! Wow. Do you ever hear what things (like the smoke you saw) turn out to be after you call them in?
You are living the life that so many would envy..This is so cool…My daughter and I were just talking about camping which she loves and me.. well..not so much but that is because of my health and not because of the outdoors. I like log cabin camping with facilities..lol…I have to take some time and read some of your other posts. By the way I am glad that you are feeling better.. Very cool blog…

Great photos, Gaelyn. Wow – snow and hail this time of the year? I know it’s always cooler up there than the rest of the state, but gee – didn’t think you’d have snow in June!
Cool pictures — sunshine & storm!
Is it unusual to get these little snow squalls this time of year?
I really like how those clouds go sweeping in thin veils over the canyon. Really neat. I can't imagine thunder and lightening too! That would be very dramatic. There is snow in those?
Grand Canyon is on my list to photograph. Snow just seems plain weird when you see those magnificent views. Gorgeous strange images.
Beautiful views of the canyon, especially the second photo.
Snow and hail must be a little unusual in June!
Does seem that monsoon season has moved into our part of the country, unseasonably. We've seen heavily overcast skies nearly every afternoon for the last few weeks.
Hi Gaelyn, wow, is it still cold in your part of the US? When does the weather warm up? Oh, I also had trouble linking to My World Tuesday but got there eventually. Gaelyn, I've juse seen that you lost your precious friend of 12 years only recently. I am SO sorry. (((Hugs)))
Nice pictures. It just stormed here and I felt such a good energy from it. I can imagine the energy where you are at is awesome.
