5 1/2 of the 7 javelinas

This morning started off helping Berta herd the javelinas out of her side yard.  Yesterday she added chicken wire around the base of the fence as they were coming between and under the iron bars.  This is the “bird yard” and the bird seed is quite attractive to the hungry javelinas.

Bradshaw Mts on the way to Prescott, Arizona

Around noon we went to Prescott.  On her way to Costco Berta dropped me off at Sharlot Hall Museum to attend a lecture about ranching history on the Kaibab Plateau and North Rim of Grand Canyon.  Park archaeologist Amy Horn spoke about the artifacts left behind by cowboys and ranchers from the late 1870s until just after the park was established in 1919.

After the lecture, I wandered around outside the museum thru a collection of historic buildings including the Governor’s Mansion built in 1864, and the Sharlot Hall Building completed in 1934 for museum exhibits.  History teaches me how I got here.

Arrived home just in time for this…

The end of the shortest day of the year.  I look forward to spring already.

Happy Solstice!
