Me at the Bahaman Princess
Because I’m cold in the mornings I’ve been dreaming of a warmer place. In December 1974 my boyfriend took me to the Bahamas. Being under 21 I couldn’t go into the Casinos. Our hotel was not on the beach as advertised but a frequent free shuttle got us there in a hurry. We were so young, and so poor we really couldn’t even afford to be there. Ate a free Continental breakfast then over priced hotdogs for lunch and dinner at the International Market. One night we walked a couple miles to town for Burger King and discovered not all Burger Kings are equal in quality or price.

But we were Warm and enjoyed our days on the beach. Wish that I were there Now!

Zowie and Rachael
This photo doesn’t get any bigger. It was scanned and sent to me this summer after I refound my married family. This is my two step-children. I believe it’s from the early 1980s after we’d moved from Illinois to Washington. My x-husband expertly wrapped all the packages using containers like coffee cans, paper towel tubes and boxes. These were happy times.

Christmas is a time for the gathering of family, be they by blood or by choice. I hope you all will have a sharing time of love and joy over the holidays.

When I was a teenager I always wanted a VW bus, I’d have settled with a bug.  But my Dad was a mechanic of “American made” automobiles and would tell me how expensive it would be to get a VW repaired.  I did eventually own a VW square-back station wagon.  But I still dreamed of having a VW bus.

Well, Berta bought me one for Christmas.  Neither of us is capable of keeping a present once we’ve bought it.  Ain’t it a beauty!  I still have to put a peace sign on the front and take it for a spin.  But for now it’s parked in the house.
