This week’s Foto Friday Fun features eight images chosen by readers from my photo files including some of my earliest stained glass crafting.
Diane and Nigel chose #3006. Diane takes photos of insects and spiders all the time and I’m sure they’ve seen Garden Globe spiders in South Africa. When on safari sightings are not always huge animals, sometimes it’s huge spider webs like this one seen in Addo Elephant National Park, 2-18-13.
Mary Lou chose #3463. When visiting Cape Vidal iSimangaliso Wetland Park in South Africa the Mfazana bird hide proved useful to watch storks and other birds.
Sherry and David chose #7192. Sometimes I get lucky at Grand Canyon.
Pam and John chose #6307. Who doesn’t love a sunset over the ocean? I’m thinking they might be seeing some from Washington and the Pacific. This shot, however, is the Indian Ocean from Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa 2-26-14.
Jeff chose #2359 one of seven in a panorama, “’The Day the Music Died’ – (Feb 3 1959).” All I could hear was wind, no music, at Nqweba Dam in Camdeboo National Park, South Africa 2-15-13.
Patti and Abi chose #350. Some of my earliest attempts at stained glass. These Scarlet Tanager sun-catchers seen in the laundry room window where my work desk was in Hanover Park, Illinois in 1981.
Yogi chose #666 (the little devil) Shortly after moving to Tonasket, Washington I opened a craft consignment store then bought the local yarn shop where you see me in 1984.
Donna chose #617. A rather fun still life of shells and skull with shadow taken in Yarnell, Arizona 11-14-09.
My choice a colorful combination of Firecracker Penstemon and the aromatic Cliff Rose seen along the Cape Royal trail last week on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Hi Gaelyn, the huge spider web reminded me of a similar one I photographed from Mfazana Bird Hide in Cape Vidal in 2015. I love seeing the sun set over the sea in your Tstitskamma National Park photo. Great photo of you in your yarn shop. Thanks for sharing. Jo
The Globe webs are truly amazing. Thanks for stopping by.
Third try at a comment. Every time I hit submit it says no connection!!
We would never have recognised you in the wool shop! Spiders and webs are OK at a distance, or in a photo, but that is as close as I need them to be. I walked into the greenhouse yesterday without looking and got tangled in quite a heavy web ugh!!! No particular favourites, I like them all, but the rainbow is always special. Hope you have a good weekend. 707 for next week please. Diane and Nigel.
I like to look at spiders make webs but to walk into a web is absolutely horrifying. #707 for you next week.
You definitely had a little hippie vibe going on in 1984. Has it really been 33 years. You have done a lot.
I’m liking 6666 for next week.
I’ve had hippie vibe since I was 16. #6666 for you next week.
I would never have recognized you in the yarn shop. What a crafts person you are. Your stained glass is amazing. You’ve sure worn a lot of hats. Love my rainbow and of course any sunset/rise over water.
I’d like # 1207 for next time please.
I’ve done a lot of arts and crafts. A few I’ve managed to hold on to. You get #1207.
Another fun week of neat photos! I do miss hiking with Cliff Rose. They do create a wonderful smell. I love how I can smell that we are approaching them if the wind is blowing the right way. Our photo choice is beautiful!
#1707
I love the heady sweet smell of cliff rose. #1707 for you next week.
Enjoyed all of this week’s photos- especially the rainbow. Please put me down for 7717 for next week- Mary Lou
Thanks Mary Lou. You get #7717 next week.
Next week : #627
#627 it is.
Those stained glass birds are impressive. I decided once upon a time I was going to learn the skill. I took a local class and it was hard! At least I thought so. I made 1 piece, just a random design in a box, but after that I was done. I didn’t have the patience, but I do remember cutting my fingers on the glass!
Next week #360. We are traveling, so please keep us going with leaps of 10, depending on internet I’ll catch up as we go. 🙂
I can’t tell you how many times I cut myself on the glass. When I taught the craft I had cute band-aides for students. You’ll Get #360, and leaps of 10 beyond. Enjoy the journey.
Oceans are all so beautiful – especially at sunset. Love the skull and shells, you’re so creative!!
3470 for next week please.
Thanks Jodee. Still-life is fun to play with. You get #3470 next week.
We’ll be a month in Ohio, sure miss the ocean sunsets that you captured nicely. Please put me down for 3579, the number of miles traveled thus far on our summer road trip.
Even though I’m not a big ocean gal I prefer it to the humidity in the midwest. Have you down for #3579.
