This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 11 images chosen by readers from my photo files including a lot of low number oldies.
Mary Lou chose #2242. Sure glad this big scorpion is made of metal. It, along with many other larger than life sculptures, created by Ricardo Breceda can be seen around Borrego Springs California.
Pam and John chose #9581. One of very few trees on the trail to the Wave. The dark crack at high center is where you enter the actual Wave. And although it is awesome, the entire landscape is spectacular.
Diane and Nigel chose #224. My first rim to rim hike across Grand Canyon in May 2008. It was a forever ways up from the bottom. Being it was Cinco de Mayo, and I needed some motivation, I repeated a chant to my labored steps to get me to the top, “Crusty, salty, Margaretta.” Then I was entirely too exhausted to even drink one when I topped out.
Patti chose #170. Me and Carson by my previous 5th-wheel where I sold at a flea market in Vicksburg, Arizona in 2004.
Yogi forgot his number so gets #85 for the number of words in his comment last week. This is an example of one of the many stained glass pieces I made back in the 1980s while living in East Wenatchee, Washington.
Donna chose #467. Another shot from hiking in Grand Canyon. This time from November 2010 looking down from the South Kaibab trail off the South Rim.
Jodee and Bill chose #7050. A rather different mode of transportation in South Africa than we are used to seeing. Don’t think it would pull my 5th-wheel.
Jeff chose #5713, “in my series of odd…” You might find the size of this fossilized clam shell odd. But it was only one of many unique fossils seen at the Mzamba site along the Wild Coast of South Africa in 2014.
Sherry and David chose #9, “since it is now 9 days and counting that I’ve had this dang nabbed virus.” They get another dang nabbed little kid picture, me at seven years old in 1961 in Hinsdale, Illinois taken in school. Hope you’re feeling better.
Barb chose #3, “you and me and Kim sitting around visiting.” I wasn’t even three years old in this 1955 shot of me drinking bath water.
Sallie and Bill chose #208, “my post office box number in the resort.” I had no post office box back in 2001 while living on the road and selling usually at flea markets. But this shot, one of two in a panorama, is of the Okanogan Barter Fair and that’s my old Pace Arrow motorhome in the first row far right.
My choice from last year’s visit to Valley of Fire State Park because that’s where I am right now so this is a teaser for more to come.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Jodee and Bill’s choice prompts us to choose 2007, as we had a 2007 Pontiac Vibe that we used to tease that we pulled our 24 foot travel trailer with. 😎
That would be an interesting sight. Have you down for #2007.
Enjoyed all your wonderful photos this week and I can’t select a favorite. Please put me down for 3327 for next week- Mary Lou
Thank you Mary Lou. Have you down for #3327.
Love the black and whites of you and of course anything of the canyon. That is a whopper of a shell in S Africa. Hope you’ll get to return there next winter. Love your choice for this week. Looking forward to more. I’ll have #7329 for no reason at all.
Thanks Sherry. I’d sure like to return to SA. Have you down for #7329.
Love all your photos this week, hard to choose a favorite, but I do love the Valley of Fire so I will choose that one. # 1299 for next week.
JEAN
Thanks. It is gorgeous here at Valley of Fire but there is very little signal for phone or internet. I’m currently sitting at the end of Fire Canyon Road where I found a signal and had lunch. Have you down for #1299.
Can’t wait to see the Valley of Fire State Park pictures. Nice job on the stained glass.
Next week: #477
Thanks, I enjoyed doing stained glass for years but it’s not a very portable craft. Loving Valley of Fire, except for the lack of signal. Pics will come soon. Have you down for #477.
I kinda’ like that my choices recently have brought me pictures from the Pacific Northwest…. I know the Okanogan area, but had no idea about that Barter Fair, which looks to have been ginormous! Anyway fun memories from our ‘former life’ in Washington and Oregon……
It’s fun seeing pictures of you as a little kid and as always I loved all your scenery, but my favorite is your choice this week and I’m definitely looking forward to more from Valley of the Fire.
Oh I’ll choose 1238 because that’s what the time thingy up in the corner of my laptop says — and because I’m pretty much the most boring person in the world that’s all I can think of right now. (But at least I’m actually here on Friday for a change and I didn’t forget to leave a number!)
Funny how the numbers come up sometimes. That Barter Fair was way too big to see it all.
Valley of Fire is breathtaking but not much signal. I’m sitting at an overlook where that finally happened.
I somehow don’t see you as boring. Have you down for #1238.
Love these photos, no favourites they are all great, but the Grand Canyon will always be special to us now as it is beautiful and where we met you. I have totally lost track of numbers so again going with today’s date 303. Hope all is well looking forward to the Valley of Fire photos, it was too hot for us when we were there to go far, so I now hope to see what we missed. Hugs Diane and Nigel
Thanks Diane. I’m glad you got to see the canyon. It was a special meet, as was you getting to meet Joan. The 70°F temps are perfect for hiking at Valley of Fire even if the lack of signal is rather frustrating. I’m sitting at the end of Fire Canyon Road and got a great signal, but not in the campground. Have you down for #303.
Your pictures of the Grand Canyon are always a favorite. I’ll shift my odd numbers again taking 7135 for next week.
Thanks Jeff. Have you down for #7135.
Great photos. The wave is on my bucket list. I will probably have to do it myself though.
I can’t believe that I forgot my number last week. Oh will, thanks for covering for me.
My number for next week is 5000
Thanks Yogi. It’s feasible to hike the Wave alone, plus there will be other hikers. Have you down for #5000.
What an eclectic grouping this week :-)))) Love the donkey and h is people! 4180 for next week please.
Some weeks are like that. Have you down for #4180.
I enjoyed the collection of photos this week. Quite the difference between your old 5th wheel and your current home on wheels. I’m curious as to what you sold at the flea markets? Jewelry?
Let’s carry on to #180.
Heck, I live in a palace now in comparison. I did sell jewelry and also made in America used cookware. Have you down for #180.
