This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers from my photo files including South African wildlife and scenes from Grand Canyon.
Mary Lou chose #7379. A not very good shot of a Red Hartebeest in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa on 3-16-14. So many species of animals to see while on safari.
Ann and Bill chose #3250. This time a warthog seen in Addo Elephant National Park the previous year’s visit.
Barb chose #814, “month and day of our wedding anniversary.” No weddings or anniversary for me, but this is a boyfriend from the past (some of you may remember Mike) hiking in Buckskin Gulch slot canyon in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, Utah 10-22-11. So amazing to have these canyon walls towering above.
Sherry and David chose #9267. They both love water so should appreciate this shot of the Orange River in Augrabies Falls National Park, South Africa taken 3-25-14. The flow was tremendous and the water fall was booming.
John and Pam chose #1034. When wintering in Yarnell, Arizona I often walked into the Weaver Mountains right out my door. Sure was surprised to find this swing with nothing else around in February 2012.
Patti chose #3542. Not all wildlife seen on safari is huge but I like to see the big and small like this Kite Spider at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa during the 2013 visit. Hope there’s no achrophobes in this crowd.
Donna chose #237, one shot in a panorama. She’s seen the Bright Angel trail’s switchbacks on the Devil’s Corkscrew and now for the upper Jacob’s Ladder. Both grueling. This was from my first rim to rim hike across Grand Canyon in 2008.
My choice from a crazy sky night on September 2nd. After dinner I drove to the Lodge for the evening program and through the trees an intense double rainbow disappeared into Roaring Springs Canyon but there was no place to pull over. By the time I parked it was fading away yet mammatus clouds hung low. Then I watched a spectacular sunset and a slip of the moon. By 10pm when I returned to the parking lot the sky had cleared, the stars were incredible (no photos), and the big dipper looked huge. Once again, Rangers get paid in sunsets. Rainbows are like overtime.

Still having problems with readers being able to comment. Seems mostly from Chrome but now from Firefox as well. I don’t know how to fix it. Any suggestions are welcome. Sorry for the inconvenience.
