This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 7 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 4852. Please link in any day this week by digging into your archives and sharing a photo and story on your blog. Plus check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Yogi had random dot org choose #4852. Klipspringers are small antelope appropriately named in Afrikaans for ‘rock jumper’. I thought them rather dainty looking walking on their toes like a ballerina. These two were seen in Kruger National Park and I also saw them occasionally in other parks in South Africa.
Sherry chose #2011, the year we missed each other at Grand Canyon. Of course I love to share the canyon with all visitors but it’s extra special when a fellow blogger/friend comes to visit. Like when Pat, who you may know as Bibi, visited this past June. After exploring the North Rim over a couple of days we took a drive to Zion National Park and here she is at the end of a long day riding the shuttle. I took this candid shot because Pat does that all time. Sure hope she won’t be mad. We had so much fun I’m hoping she comes back for a visit next year.
Diane chose #1666, which turns out to be 1 of 7 in a panorama shot of Sterkspruit Falls in the Drakensburg from my first trip to South Africa. The short hike to the waterfall from our Monks Cowl camp was an introduction for my backpacking hike further into the mountains.
Bibi chose #1034, the time when she posted last week’s comment. Although it is winter time for both of us I know we’re looking forward to spring when we can again enjoy the beautiful bloom of daffodils. This lovely bouquet was a gift from my dear friend Berta in March of 2012.
Jo chose #1777 and I think she’s in cahoots with Diane picking the same number as last week. This is the fossil of a 270 million year old sponge found in the Kaibab limestone at Grand Canyon, one of the largest I’ve ever seen.
Elaine chose #625, more awesome rock but this time Navajo sandstone sculpted by water in Buckskin Gulch slot canyon, Utah. Isn’t Mother Nature a marvel?
Sallie chose #9000, the last number in the choice options. This shot of a stormy sunset over Widforss Plateau and Transept Canyon is 1 of 5 from a panorama shot, so I’ll share them both.
My choice from the beginning of this week, moon set at sunrise over the Weaver Mountains right out my RV window.

Do you have a favorite from this week?
Ha ha Jo and I obviously have similar minds. I love your favourite of the day but i also love my waterfall and the dear little klipspringers. Having said that the sandstone is amazing as well. Will try to follow while we are away but if I have problems please guess a number for me and I will catch up in the New year. Meanwhile for next week 1555. Have a great Christmas. Diane
Wonder if it’s an African thing. 😉 Enjoy your holiday. Have you down for #1555, next weeks number choice.
Super shots, Gaelyn. Even the one of me isn’t half bad. 😉 I really, really enjoyed our trip to Zion and of course our time in the Grand Canyon, too. Doubt if I’ll make it down this time, but one never knows. Next week I’ll have number 82, the number of minutes in the Hindi mix cd I’m listening to… 🙂
I had fun too. Hope you can make it. Have you down for #82.
I love the picture from Utah. I think it is amazing the way nature forms these rocks. Plus Utah is such a stunning State I’d love to go back some day.
I tend to apply some text titles to my pictures when I file them so I’m afraid that I can’t apply an appropriate photo 🙁
Utah is spectacular. Hope you do get a chance to return there some day.
Even if you don’t link in from your own site feel free to pick a number.
Okay 🙂 3854
Cool. So I have you down for #3854 for next week.
Well this is another fabulous group of pictures. I can use the daffodils to make me think of the warm yellow sun. It’s 47 here in Florida and I know I shouldn’t be complaining but this is Florida for heaven’s sake. Love your moon set picture. What a view you have. The colors in the canyon pictures are superb. Love the falls and the Klipspringers on their dainty toes. I probably will never see either of those in person but I’ve put that beautiful slot canyon on my list. I’d never heard of it before so many thanks! I’ll take today’s date 1212 for next week please.
It’s only 40 here right now, and this is AZ. Buckskin slot canyon isn’t technical so only a few boulders to climb. You’d Love it! I haven’t given up yet on getting you to South Africa. Have you down for #1212.
My photos aren’t numbered that way, but this if fun!
I guess not everyone keeps the camera number on their photos. But feel free to chose a number for next week.
Love the panorama shots ( I’m trying to learn to do those). And of course’ all your adventures as always …. but that Navajo sandstone one is my favorite; I really want to see that someday. Sigh. So many places…..
It is 12:56 now, so can that be my number?
I’ve been taking panoramas since I was a kid and used to tape the prints together. As everything, just takes practice. I let Windows Gallery do the stitching. I do hope you get to see the lovely SW rock. Have you down for #1256.
Buckskin Gulch? You find the most interesting places. What a grand waterfall!
So many of the SW slot canyons are technical and require rope, not for me. Buckskin is not that way so I can feel comfortable hiking it alone.
My number for next week is 7822, picked it out all by myself! I love the Klipspringer photo, the waterfall panorama and Grand Canyon panorama and oh yes the slot canyon shot is special also. Shoot, I like’em all.
I’m so proud of you for picking your own number. 😉 And glad you’re so easy to please. Have you down for #7822. You’ll like it.
I’ve been following this game for a while. My new blog should allow me to participate on occasion instead of just following along silently. 🙂 I agree, btw, Utah is an amazing place. #3301 for me.
Glad you joined in Shane. Have you down for #3301.
Love that rock in Buckskin Gulch! It reminds me of a piece of wood, and, yes, Mother Nature is indeed a marvel! Put me down for 1101 for next week.
The bedding planes do look kind of like the grains on wood. Have you down for #1101.
