This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 6 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 6387. Please join in by digging into your archives and sharing a story. And check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Jonker chose #6387, which will be this week’s photo index number. Taken in August during monsoon season, watching a storm cross the canyon and wondering if we’ll actually get any rain. I zoomed in on Isis temple through the saddle between Widforss Plateau to the right and Oza Butte to the left. Mid-afternoon sun highlights the walls of the south rim. Light and shadow play provide endless changes to the shapes in Grand Canyon.
Bibi chose #6060, “like my vision, I think.” She does have an eagle eye, and that’s the kind of view I got from the Suspension Bridge trail at Tsitsikamma National Park. This immense and diverse coastal park offers many more trails than I hiked, a swimming beach to the right of the white float in the middle, tidal pools to explore, and this building houses reception, restaurant and shop with souvenirs and a few groceries. I’ve stayed at nice chalets and camped and hope to go back.
Diane chose #7771 which happens to be one of many shots taken through the RV window at sunset through the trees at the edge of Transept Canyon. Some nights I’m just too tired to walk to the rim. But even then, photos never seem to do it justice.
Sherry chose #6753, a place I know she’d enjoy hiking on the Waterfall Trail also at Tsitsikamma National Park. It proved to be a challenging and wonderful hike, but not for the feint hearted. This reminds me of a stairway to heaven.
Yogi chose #1621, or rather random dot org chose it for him. Because his number is part of a panorama shot I kind of cheated and gave him #1622 instead. I know he’ll understand. Besides I didn’t want to show you just a piece of Deer Lake in early June when it was only the size of a large mud puddle. Monsoon rain brought it up to the next ring-line out from the water. The lake is fenced to keep cattle and bison-hybrids out while allowing wildlife in.
Elaine chose #1254 which is a close up of a hoodoo in Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah. I’m a pareidolia so see a funny face in the shadow. Do you?
My choices this week, because I couldn’t decide on just one and am catching up through September, includes rain falling in Grand Canyon seen from Paraswampitts Point…
…and looking for fall colors on two separate hikes along the Ken Patrick trail.

Do you have a favorite from this week?
Capturing the present for future memories of the past
No favourites here, I love them all. I am going to try Mr Linky’s Magical widget but as I have no idea what I am doing, do not be surprised if it does not work!! 6661 for next week. Have a great weekend. Diane
I have registered, but can’t add a photo, all it seems to do is add my website but nowhere to comment so have deleted it! I need further help I think.
Thanks for joining in Diane. Have you down for #6661 for next week and that will be our meme number as well.
So now I see it is not deleted and my name is there twice!!!!!!! Diane
Well, I totally understand cheating and see how well it worked out there. I love the lake and I love those kind of fences. My number for next week courtesy of random dot org is 2108
I knew you’d understand. Have you down for #2108 for next week.
Every time I view your photos, I give a great sigh. The vastness and natural beauty of our planet are breathtaking. You capture it so well. Thank you!
Well thank you Patricia. I love to share earth’s beauty.
Hard to pick a favorite, but if I really had to, I’d go for the stairs! 🙂 Next week I’ll have 46, the number of years ago I studied in Aix-en-Provence, France. Going there next Sunday to meet up with some people I hung out with then…fun photos coming, for sure.
Thought you might like the stairs. How fun to meet up with old friends, and in France no less. Have you down for #46. Enjoy!
Great shots–great commentaries. Love the distant rain shots.

Thanks MB.
Missing your cold weather! I know you’re wrapping up soon. Thinking of you.
One more week of work then back to Yarnell and off to PNW at end of month. Hope it’s cooling for you because I see you are busy outside on weekends.
Really nice variety of pictures. You betcha I’m all in for a waterfall hike and in Africa………..oh SWOON!! Let me have 8199 for next week please.
Thanks Sherry. Have you down for #8199.
I like the way this series shows so many kinds of light! that stairway to heaven is probably my favorite, because even though it would probably kill me I just would HAVE to try to climb it. Everything is wonderful though.
9989 because I’m almost last. Almost always.
Thanks Sallie. These weren’t the only steps along this trail. Have you down for #9989.
Well, you taught me a new word today! Here I’m a pareidolia and didn’t even know it. I do see the funny face–kind of looks like an opera star singing an aria to me. I’ll take 1145 for next week.
Glad to know I’m not the only pareidolia out there. I see a “Fee-fi-fo-fum” giant. Have you down for #1145.
Mmmm, a post containing mostly Tsitsikamma and Grand Canyon pictures. How can I not like it. Stunning pictures.
Next week, thanks to closing my eyes and pushing number buttons, I choose 764
Thanks Jonker. Have you down for #764.
