Meet Beauford, or Bea for short, the furry, four-legged assistant at Yavapai Human Society Thrift Shop. He even has his own volunteer name tag, but left it home that day.
I did get a few good deals last week. These brand new 100% cotton flannel sheets from Portugal still had the original price tag of $112 marked down to $29.99, and I paid $10. Do people really pay over $100 for sheets? Geez.
Also bought this full box of fantastical wizardy greeting cards, blank inside, for $2.
Yet my best buy of that day was not at a thrift store, nor was it cheap.
Not only do I like thrift stores and yard sales, they save me money for other things I like as well, like a camera and traveling.
What kind of deals have you gotten lately?
I love searching flea markets, charity shops and the like for bargains. My most recent ‘deal’ was loads of antique porcelain dolls head for $60 …it sounds expensive, but these heads are not cheap! I’m going to use them to create angel shrines!! Cute dog!
wonderful finds…. each one and such a cute pup
our library sells used books for 10 cents to a dollar…. brought a couple home yesterday
Well the deal. Our water heater went on the brink and spilled water all over. I got a better deal from Sears than other places. I like Sears.
I do love a good deal but I think I love your camera—Lucky You!!!
I like the wizard cards–I have some stylized fairy cards from the thrift. MB
My last thrifty buy was a Fry Baby electric fryer that I have always wanted, but they had stopped making the small ones several years ago. With a lot of elbow grease and scrubbing I got it as clean as I possibly could and it works like a dream, and I take pleasure in knowing it only cost me a dollar. I also bought an old piano bench. I’m going to recover the cushion on top and use it as extra seating where needed. It’s as sturdy as a brand new one, and with a little spit and polish I won’t complain over the five dollars I paid for it. I’m using a southwestern design material from a window valance I bought for $1.25 at the thrift store. I’m so envious of the silver and turqoise(sp?) jewelry you find at the thrift stores, and I can’t wait to read your Thrifty Thursday posts!
I’m eager to see the pictures you’ll be taking with the new camera and the new lens, but your older pictures weren’t bad in my opinion.
Since I don’t comment too often on blogs, I want to let you know how very much I enjoy your blog, all aspects of it. Due to family responsibilities at this time in my life I’m unable to travel back to the southwest like I used to do, so I do my current traveling through your blog. I would miss it so much if you stopped blogging, which I hope you don’t do for a long, long time. ~Pam in Louisiana~
We like going to Bussey’s Flea Market in Schertz, TX. My DH got a super deal on a brand new motorcycle jacket with the tags still on it.
Just love that camera, wish I could get a better one than the one I have 🙁 Diane
I know the excitement of bringing a new quality camera home. The D5100 came out just after I bought my D90. Had I known that I might have considered the D5100 for sure. The D90 replaced my D50 which I dropped on a cement patio.
You tell me about those $100 ++++ sheets! You got great bargain prices!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying your new camera! I can’t wait to see what you can do with the new lens.
